Urban Aeronautics is pleased to announce that on November 3, 2016 its Cormorant Unmanned Air vehicle (UAV) prototype has performed its first autonomous pattern flight including low flight over uneven terrain.
A unique vertical take-off and landing aircraft completed its first un tethered flight last week.
The 'Air Mule', designed to carry about 1000 pounds every 31 miles, has the ability to drop supplies to a waiting army and carry wounded soldiers to safety.
The prototype has taken two years to complete, but its creators are hopeful it will be able to reach places traditional helicopters can't, in the next few years.
It has enough strength to carry 1000 pounds per 30 miles, which means it can haul about 13000 pounds in a full day.
The craft weighs about one-ton and can be operated with a specially made remote control, or by using its own autonomous control system.
It's designed with rear propellers that enables it to take-off horizontally. It also has vertical movement that is controlled by internal rotors, which can only be seen from directly above or below.
The Air Mule will be able to deliver supplies day after day and can also be a maritime force multiplier on vessels that are too small for a traditional helicopter.

While SCUBA diving at Pelican Rocks off of Cabo San Lucas, a Brandt's Cormorant (Phalacrocorax penicillatus) repeatedly returned to the same area to catch fish. I waited for it to return and was lucky enough to film it catching a coral hawkfish (in slow motion). I was at around 15 meters deep, but cormorants have been recorded to at least 45 meters. While not being the most graceful fliers, they are fantastic underwater and right at home patrolling the reef for a meal.

Cormorant
Phalacrocoracidae is a family of some 40 species of aquatic birds commonly known as cormorants and shags. Several different classifications of the family have been proposed recently, and the number of genera is disputed. There is no consistent distinction between "cormorants" and "shags", and these appellations have been assigned to different species randomly.
Cormorants and shags are medium-to-large birds, with body weight in the range of 0.35–5 kilograms (0.77–11.02 lb) and wing span of 45–100 centimetres (18–39 in). The majority of species have dark feathers. The bill is long, thin and hooked. Their feet have webbing between all four toes. All species are fish-eaters, catching the prey by diving from the surface. They are excellent divers, and under water they propel themselves with their feet with help from their wings; some cormorant species have been found to dive as deep as 45 metres. They have relatively short wings due to their need for economical movement underwater, and consequently have the highest flight costs of any bird.

Eve Online (stylised EVE Online) is a player-driven, persistent-world massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) set in a science fiction space setting, developed and published by CCP Games. Characters pilot customizable ships through a galaxy of 7,800 star systems. Most star systems are connected to one or more other star systems by means of stargates. The star systems can contain moons, planets, stations, wormholes, asteroid belts and complexes.

A unique vertical take-off and landing aircraft completed its first un tethered flight last week.
The 'Air Mule', designed to carry about 1000 pounds every 31 miles, has the ability to drop supplies to a waiting army and carry wounded soldiers to safety.
The prototype has taken two years to complete, but its creators are hopeful it will be able to reach places traditional helicopters can't, in the next few years.
It has enough strength to carry 1000 pounds per 30 miles, which means it can haul about 13000 pounds in a full day.

While SCUBA diving at Pelican Rocks off of Cabo San Lucas, a Brandt's Cormorant (Phalacrocorax penicillatus) repeatedly returned to the same area to catch fish. I waited for it to return and was lucky enough to film it catching a coral hawkfish (in slow motion). I was at around 15 meters deep, but cormorants have been recorded to at least 45 meters. While not being the most graceful fliers, they are fantastic underwater and right at home patrolling the reef for a meal.

An American white pelican, rare for this area, has been spotted the past few days swimming along the southwestern shore of Onondaga Lake. This is the second year in a row that a pelican has turned up in the waterway ... The latest one has been noted by Upstate New York bird waters for about a week, according to Kevin McGowan, from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology ...
