Miller Park may refer to:
A park is an area of natural, semi-natural, or planted space set aside for human enjoyment and recreation or for the protection of wildlife or natural habitats. It may consist of grassy areas, rocks, soil, and trees, but may also contain buildings and other artifacts such as monuments, fountains or playground structures. In North America, many parks have fields for playing sports such as soccer, baseball and football, and paved areas for games such as basketball. Many parks have trails for walking, biking and other activities. Some parks are built adjacent to bodies of water or watercourses, and these parks may comprise a beach or boat dock area. Often, the smallest parks are in urban areas, where a park may take up only a city block or less. Urban parks often have benches for sitting and they may contain picnic tables and barbecue grills. Parks have differing rules regarding whether dogs can be brought into the park: some parks prohibit dogs; some parks allow them with restrictions (e.g., use of a leash); and some parks, which may be called "dog parks," permit dogs to run off-leash.
A miller usually refers to a person who operates a mill, a machine to grind a cereal crop to make flour.
Milling is among the oldest of human occupations. "Miller", "Milne" and other variants are common surnames, as are their equivalents in other languages around the world ("Müller" or "Mueller" in German, "Molnár" in Hungarian, "Molinero" in Spanish, "Molinaro or Molinari" in Italian etc.). Milling existed in hunter-gatherer communities, and later millers were important to the development of agriculture.
The materials ground by millers are often foodstuffs and particularly grain. The physical grinding of the food allows for the easier digestion of its nutrients and saves wear on the teeth. Non-food substances needed in a fine, powdered form, such as building materials, may be processed by a miller.
The most basic tool for a miller was the quern-stone—simply a large, fixed stone as a base and another movable stone operated by hand, similar to a mortar and pestle. As technology and millstones (the bedstone and rynd) improved, more elaborate machines such as watermills and windmills were developed to do the grinding work. These mills harnessed available energy sources including animal, water, wind, and electrical power. Mills are some of the oldest factories in human history, so factories making other items are sometimes known as mills, for example, cotton mills and steel mills. These factory workers are also called millers.
"Frick Park Market" is a song by American hip hop recording independent artist Mac Miller. It serves as the lead single from his debut album Blue Slide Park. It was released digitally in 2011 on 8/18 at 18:00 along with an accompanying music video.
The song is named after Frick Park Market, a food store in Mac Miller's hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at which the rapper once worked. The name coincides with the album title "Blue Slide Park" which is a nickname for one of the playgrounds in nearby Frick Park. The official music video to the song was filmed at the store. As of December 16, 2012 the official music video has had over 23 million views on YouTube.
The song entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart at number 60 on September 3, as well as reaching numbers 34 and 3 on the US Digital and, Top Heatseekers charts respectively. The single has sold over 150,000 units in the US.
Frick Park is the largest municipal park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, covering 644 acres (2.61 km2). It is one of Pittsburgh's four historic large parks.
The park began when Henry Clay Frick, upon his death in 1919, bequeathed 380 acres (1.5 km2) south of Clayton, his Point Breeze mansion (which is now part of the Frick Art & Historical Center). He also arranged for a $2 million trust fund ($27.3 million today) for long-term maintenance for the park, which opened on June 25, 1927. He did this against his will, but rather acquiesced to his daughter, Helen's debutante wigth which he had promised to honor.
Henry Clay Frick's son, Childs Frick, developed his lifelong love of animals in the woods and ravines of the park. Childs Frick went on to be a renowned American vertebrate paleontologist, major benefactor and trustee of the American Museum of Natural History.
Over the years, the park grew from the original land in Point Breeze and now includes Squirrel Hill to the border of Edgewood. It is one of the few areas of a city that Frick helped industrialize, where steep ravines and mature woods remain relatively undisturbed, forming a nature reserve of native plants and abundant wildlife. Owls, amphibians, wild turkey, fox, and many mammal species are found in the park.
I'm going for my 10,000th lifetime baseball -- this is the season! And I kicked things off at Miller Park in Milwaukee. Batting practice was a bit of a struggle, but I got a bunch of toss-ups as I got myself back in the groove. Fun day overall. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe. There'll be LOTS more videos coming soon . . .
It's the part of Miller Park most people never get to see...until now!
Miller Park has THE best spot in the major leagues for catching foul balls, and when you watch this video, you'll understand why. I snagged eight baseballs during batting practice, got two toss-ups before the game, and grabbed two foul balls during the game for a grand total of 12. Good times! Thanks for watching. FYI, this game took place on August 22, 2016 and was filmed and edited by Brandon Sloter.
