The Police were an English rock band formed in London in 1977. For the majority of their history, the band consisted of Sting (lead singer, bassist and principal songwriter), Andy Summers (guitarist) and Stewart Copeland (drummer). The Police became globally popular in the late 1970s and are generally regarded as one of the first new wave groups to achieve mainstream success, playing a style of rock that was influenced by punk, reggae, and jazz. They are also considered one of the leaders of the Second British Invasion of the U.S. They disbanded in 1986, but reunited in early 2007 for a one-off world tour that ended in August 2008.
Their 1978 debut album, Outlandos d'Amour, reached No. 6 in the UK, and their second album Reggatta de Blanc became the first of five consecutive UK No. 1 albums.Synchronicity from 1983 was No. 1 in both the UK and U.S., selling over 8 million copies in the U.S. alone. The Police have sold over 75 million records, making them one of the world's best-selling artists of all time. They were the world's highest-earning musicians in 2008, thanks to their reunion tour.

Genres: Drama, Short,(HQ digital stereo remaster) Before anyone accuses me of fraud, this really is the official music video released in Australia for "King Of Pain". It was shown on the iconic ABC music programme "Countdown" on 11 March 1984. It is as an edited version of The Police's album promo film "Studies In Synchronicity". The ABC's "Countdown" was so powerful in the music industry in the '80s that it alone could make or break songs and artists - no video, no promotion, no chance. So A&M; had little choice but to put this together in order to promote this song in Australia, the fourth single from the "Synchronicity" album. That makes it an official music video. I don't know if it was shown anywhere else in the world.

- A dystopic future. The love between two working drones ignites the courage among the people to revolt against the system built on oppression and police violence.- Gudrun von Laxenburg, an experimental three-piece electronic band from Austria, just signed their debut album, Panic!, with Skint BMG. Off that record, “Revolution” hits like a flurry of electronic elements not unlike those of EOTO and similar technologically advanced jam bands. Alongside the single comes a music video representative of that dystopian storyline, complete with cloaked figures, barking dogs, and expressionless civilians on a mission to unhinge and depose their oppressors. On the song, GVL reveal that it was a message for the current state of police affairs around the world. “Irrational police brutality and ruth...

We've just Written, Directed & Produced this Short Film/Music Promo for Black Black Hills’ debut single ‘The Celebration’. Upon hearing the track we immediately felt inspired to create something that was firmly rooted in British folklore. Black Black Hills’ single ‘The Celebration’ is available from itunes and Amazon now. Check out their Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/blackblackhills and their Soundcloud page http://soundcloud.com/blackblackhills 'The Celebration’ is a thematically and emotively dark sounding song. Because of this we wanted to tell a simple but very cinematic and gripping story focusing on the atmosphere of the track without being a literal translation of the lyrics. As the track is so evocative, we felt that to do the song any justice we needed to tell a sto...
Directed by Noah Harris Subscribe - http://www.blinkink.co.uk/#subscribe Following a series of imaginative and technically adventurous commercials, Noah makes a triumphant return to the medium of music video with a stirring new promo for Police Dog Hogan. Noah travelled to the dramatic scenery of Scotland's Cairngorm Mountains to capture a heartfelt story set at the intersection of past and present, following a boy on a symbolic journey through ancient forests and sweeping shores. Noah draws strong performances from the characters, bringing a quiet sense of anguish to the moving narrative, with lingering close-ups powerfully contrasted by the vast emptiness of the landscape. With 'Fraserburgh Train', Noah has added a strongly emotional dimension to his already diverse showreel, render...

This footage is from the Finch Music Archive. This once belonged to Derrick Burbidge he was the director of almost all The Police promos & many other high profile artists. He also shot (on 16mm film) most of the Old Grey Whistle Test on location interviews & concerts. We were commissioned by the new owners of the archive to restore the picture from 16mm film & restore the audio & re-sync with correct pitch.
This was at a round robin concert in Baltimore that Dan organized. It was in a loft space. There were nine acts, and each had their own stage area. After one act played, they would turn off their light, and the next act would turn theirs on. Then, the crowd would walk over to where the new light was and watch the next act. There were four or five total rounds. It was great. Dan did little comedy scenes instead of playing music, although he also is a musician.

PEACE IN THE ABSENCE OF WAR: Baltimore 4/27/15 - 5/2/15 On April 12th, 2015, Freddie Gray, a 25 year-old unarmed black man, was taken into custody by Baltimore City Police. Thirty minutes later he was found unresponsive in the back of a police van. After a week in a coma, Freddie Gray died from his injuries. In the coming weeks Baltimore would become the epicenter of a growing national movement to end police brutality. Military and police swarmed the city to impose order, while flocks of media arrived to cover the increasingly violent confrontations with demonstrators. On April 27th, after an intense night of protests and rioting throughout the city, a state of emergency was declared. A 9 PM curfew was established for all civilians, enforced by a military guard armed with automatic weapon...

Interviews with Stewart, Andy and Sting at Melbourne Showground on the day of the final concert of their Synchronicity Tour on March 4, 1984. This was broadcast a week later on ABC's "Countdown" program. Chopped rather heavy-handedly during broadcast recording (I presumably didn't want the other program stuff) I have further edited it to tidy it up a little.
A segment from the long running Australian music TV series Countdown, which aired on the ABC from 1974-1987. This particular segment aired during the Countdown 'End of the Decade' special, a retrospective of the music of the 1970s, which originally aired on December 16, 1979, on the ABC. This clip features an interview of British band The Police, featuring band members Sting, Andy Summers, and Stewart Copeland, conducted by Countdown Talent Co-Ordinator Molly Meldrum. The interview begins, after a short clip of The Police's 'Message In A Bottle', with Molly asking the band about their relatively fast success, having kept Fleetwood Mac from the Number 1 position in the UK for a long time. A discussion is then had about how The Police achieved the success they have. Also discussed is h...

Stewart Copeland of The Police Reminisces About the '82 US Festival. "We were sold on the idea of coming to this festival in that it would be the opposite of Woodstock. It's absolutely comfortable, the grass is clean, the sound system is pristine. It was a really great experience, and the 'US' Festival was really the precursor to that. The idea that a festival isn't misery. The Festival still resonates. It was not Woodstock. It should've been, considering the talent." - Stewart Copeland, 2012 ABOUT THE FILM Regarded as the Woodstock of the 80's, the 'US' Festival captured the mindset of a culture on the cusp of a technology transformation. About the project: November, the 9th, 1999. The fall of the Berlin Wall set the seal on the end of the Iron Curtain, a fence some 7 thousand chilometres that split Europe in two spheres of influence. A division that lasted from the end of World War II to the end of the Cold War. How did the lives of those who grew up along this ideological and political border change? How did the dreams of the boys who jumped on the Wall to celebrate a regained freedom end up? After twenty years from the historical date, four editorial staff - Peacereporter journalist agency, Matteo Scanni, movie director, Becco Giallo comic Editor and Prospekt Photojournalist agency - have decided to travel along the former Iron Curtain border and to tell what it was. Two teams provided by videocamera, photocamera, audi...

That same night, Llach composed what was to become one of the most symbolic songs of the Transition: "Campanades a morts", or “Toll for the dead”. “In order to grasp and analyse rhythms, it is necessary to get outside them, but not completely… A certain exteriority enables the analytic intellect to function… In order to grasp this fleeting object, which is not exactly an object, it is therefore necessary to situate oneself simultaneously inside and outside. A balcony does the job admirably.” Lefebvre, Rhythmanalysis In the absence of a balcony, I attempted to grasp the rhythms of Népszínház utca from the window of my flat. The notorious street – literally translated as People’s Theatre Street – cuts through the middle of Józsefváros, a district of Budapest with a notorious reputation amongst those who live outside it; a notorious street in a notorious district. As A., a young woman from Buda puts it “when I see the sign ‘Népszínhá...

The Police - Stewart Armstrong Copeland & son of Miles Axe Copeland Jr. , Andrew James "Andy" Summers & Sting a.k.a. Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner are live in the ABC studios talking to Molly Meldrum about many things which to fans like myself may of never of known until now because we were to young! I find it interesting when Stewart starts to talk about Klark Kent and his background and seeing the other two looking around and Sting with his hands around his mouth almost trying to almost shoosh Stewart to be quiet especially when one three letter organization is mentioned and Stewart should know these three letter organizations as well as anybody in the public could ever possibly of known,(Google his father & see for yourself) I don't know but I find this body language very interesting an...

ICON Television Music, UNUSON and Plum Moving Media are pleased to announce the only authorized and sanctioned documentary revealing the bands, fans a...

All those stories that used to say
There's a new world begins today
Bad old days just a memory
Trouble is that it seems to me - yeah, yeah, yeah
It's the same old planet
Golden dreams of a golden age
Silver tongue of an ancient sage
When the prose is half fulfilled
Seems it's time for you to pay all the bills - no, no no
Not on the planet
I had a vision the other night
Woken up by an angel of light
She sang a song so pure and bright
A simple tale of how it might have been
My political friend tells me I've got to fight
He says I've got to stand up for my rights
Well that's all right my friend you know I will
Just one thing you know - I ain't gonna kill - no, no no
Not on the planet
Go take me flying out of this place
To another time and some other space
I'm just another soldier fallen from grace
Won't you see me with a smile on my face?
No,no,no!
Not on the planet
(Not on the planet)
It's a new world
(Not on the planet)
It's the same old planet
(Not on the planet)
It's a new world
(Not on the planet)
But it's the same old planet
(Not on the planet)
It's a new world
(Not on the planet)
It's the same old planet
(Not on the planet)
It's a new world
(Not on the planet)
It's the same old planet
(Not on the planet)
