Jeremiah Griffin "Jerry" Harrison (born February 21, 1949) is an American songwriter, musician and producer. He achieved fame as the keyboardist and guitarist for the New Wave band Talking Heads and as an original member of The Modern Lovers.
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Harrison played with Jonathan Richman in The Modern Lovers when he was an architecture student at Harvard University. Harrison was introduced to Richman by mutual friend and journalist Danny Fields and the pair bonded over their shared love of the Velvet Underground. He joined The Modern Lovers in early 1971, playing on their debut album in 1972 (not released until 1976), and left in February 1974 when Richman wished to perform his songs more quietly.
Harrison joined Talking Heads in 1977; after the release of their debut single Love → Building on Fire.
Harrison's solo albums include The Red and the Black, Casual Gods, and Walk on Water.
After the 1991 breakup of Talking Heads, Harrison turned to producing and worked on successful albums by bands including Hockey, Violent Femmes, The BoDeans, The Von Bondies, General Public, Live, Crash Test Dummies, The Verve Pipe, Rusted Root, Stroke 9, The Bogmen, Black 47, Of A Revolution, No Doubt, Josh Joplin, The Black and White Years, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Bamboo Shoots, the String Cheese Incident and The Gracious Few. He also is Chairman of the Board for Garageband.com ("an internet music resource he co-founded in 1999").
Rev It Up is the second album by American hard rock band Vixen, released by EMI in 1990. It entered the UK Chart at No. 20, and placed two songs inside the Billboard Hot 100.
Tracks 12 and 13 are from the 2006 Japanese Remastered release.
Talking Heads was an American rock band formed in 1975 in New York City and active until 1991. The band comprised David Byrne (lead vocals, guitar), Chris Frantz (drums), Tina Weymouth (bass), and Jerry Harrison (keyboards, guitar). Former art school students who became involved in the 1970s New York punk scene, Talking Heads integrated elements of punk, art rock, funk, dance, and world music with avant-garde sensibilities and the anxious stage persona of singer Byrne. The group produced several commercial hits and a number of multimedia projects throughout its career, and often collaborated with other artists, such as musician Brian Eno and director Jonathan Demme.
Critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine described Talking Heads as "one of the most critically acclaimed bands of the '80s." In 2002, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Four of the band's albums appeared on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, and three of their songs ("Psycho Killer", "Life During Wartime", and "Once in a Lifetime") were included among The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. Talking Heads were also included at #64 on VH1's list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time". In the 2011 update of Rolling Stone 's "100 Greatest Artists of All Time", the band was ranked at No. 100.
Casual Gods was the second solo album by Jerry Harrison. His third, Walk on Water, also bore the Casual Gods name as a proxy for the band.
The track "Man with A Gun" featured in the film Two Moon Junction, and the instrumental version of the same song was used in the Jonathan Demme film Something Wild.
All tracks were written by Jerry Harrison, except where indicated
The extended mix of "Bobby" did not appear on the LP or cassette versions of the album, but was featured as the B-side of the "Rev It Up" 45rpm single. "Breakdown in the Passing Lane" was not on the original U.S. LP release.

Here's my favorite track from the concert movie "Stop Making Sense". I'd love to have a conversation with each of the band members ...this was not your usual rock and roll band. The core members, Jerry Harrison, Chris Frantz, Tina Weymouth and David Byrne certainly had the performance chops to pull off the filmed concert gig, but the addition of percussion player Steve Scales, guitarist Alex Weir from The Johnson Brothers and Parliament- Funkadelic's Bernie Worrell on keyboards plus backing singers Ednah Holt and Lynn Mabry jacked things up the groove level to that famous 11 on the Spinal Tap scale. I saw David Byrne fronting an 18-piece Latin big band at the Greek Theater in LA about 3 years after this was shot. He was terrific that night, as you might imagine.

A welcome antidote to the non-interview with David Byrne that I posted, Jerry was willing to talk about everything. Most tellingly, at the end he describes being sick and tired of having to deal with David Byrne's unwillingness to do anything with the Talking Heads -- and indeed the historical record will show that the band was effectively over by this time. He just didn't know it. Ken Sato interviewed and Steve Harris interpreted on June 28, 1988, at the Capitol Tokyu Hotel in Tokyo, Japan. Talking Heads were a new wave band which formed in 1974 in New York City, New York, United States. The band originally consisted of David Byrne (vocals, guitar), Tina Weymouth (bass) and Chris Frantz (drums), who had met while attending the Rhode Island School of Design. The band added Jerry Harrison (keyboards & guitar) in early 1977. The band released eight studio albums before disbanding in 1991. Talking Heads were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. Talking Heads first appeared on the New York music scene as a trio in 1974. At the time, the band consisted only of Byrne, Frantz and Weymouth and was initially called The Artistics. By 1975, the band had recorded a demo album for CBS Records and landed a gig opening for the Ramones at CBGB in June 1975, which was the firs...
