DJ Semtex (born 1974 in Manchester as John Fairbanks) is an English disc jockey and presenter for BBC Radio 1Xtra digital radio station, presenting the flagship hip-hop show, Friday nights from 22:00-01:00.
DJ Semtex is notable for having one arm, but there is no information about how he lost the missing part except for some anecdotal fan reports that it may have been military related. He can be seen scratching using his nose at live shows. Semtex began his career in the music industry in 1992, hosting weekly pirate radio shows in Manchester and performing at clubs such as the Haçienda and Home. During this time he also DJed for De la Soul when they performed in Manchester, and hosted Wyclef’s Carnival afterparty in London. He also produced hip-hop mixes for BBC Radio 1’s Trevor Nelson, Tim Westwood and various DJs on Galaxy FM between 1996 and 1998.
His proficiency at producing and distributing hip-hop mixtapes internationally led to Semtex being commissioned to produce promotional mixtapes for major labels such as Sony, Universal, Loud Records, and Def Jam.
Semtex is a general-purpose plastic explosive containing RDX and PETN. It is used in commercial blasting, demolition, and in certain military applications. Semtex became notoriously popular with terrorists because it was, until recently, extremely difficult to detect, as in the case of Pan Am Flight 103.
For its original military use it was manufactured under the name B 1. It has been manufactured in Czechoslovakia under its current name since 1964, labeled as SEMTEX 1A, since 1967 as SEMTEX H and since 1987 as SEMTEX 10.
The composition of the two most common variants differ according to their use. The 1A (or 10) variant is used for blasting, and is based mostly on crystalline PETN. The version 1AP and 2P are formed as hexagonal booster charges; a special assembly of PETN and wax inside the charge assures high reliability for detonating cord or detonator. The H (or SE) variant is intended for explosion hardening.
Semtex was invented in the late 1950s by Stanislav Brebera, a chemist at VCHZ Synthesia, Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic). The explosive is named after Semtín, a suburb of Pardubice where the mixture was first manufactured starting in 1964. The plant was later renamed to become Explosia a.s., a subsidiary of Synthesia.
"The Rapper" is a song by The Jaggerz, written by band member Dominic Ierace, better known as Donnie Iris. Released as a single, it reached No. 2 on the Billboard Pop Singles chart and was certified Gold by the RIAA in 1970 (see 1970 in music) for selling over a million copies. (Iris later launched a solo career; his biggest such hit was Ah! Leah!.)
The song is addressed to a girl, or girls in general; it describes the method of a man who seduces women with untruths ("rapping".) The singer says, "You know what he's after"; he concludes by saying there comes a point at which the man has his target where he wants her. The girl has to "face reality." The record ends with a small group of applause heard in the studio.
"The Rapper" has been covered by two Jaggerz members. Since beginning his solo career, Donnie Iris has covered the song numerous times in concert. Additionally, live recordings of the song have appeared on his compilation albums.
Also, "The Rapper" was covered by Jimmie Ross during the time period when The Jaggerz weren't together in the duo Cooper & Ross with Kathy Cooper. Additionally, the single was covered by Wolfman Jack. Canadian hard rock trio Santers recorded the song for their 1981 debut album Shot Down In Flames.
Chancelor Bennett (born April 16, 1993), better known by his stage name Chance the Rapper, is an American hip hop recording artist from the West Chatham neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. In 2013, he began to gain major recognition following the release of his second mixtape, Acid Rap. Chance is also a member of the Chicago collective SAVEMONEY with frequent collaborator Vic Mensa, and lead vocalist for the band The Social Experiment.
Chance grew up as the oldest brother in the middle-class neighborhood of West Chatham in Chicago's South Side, his younger brother Taylor Bennett is also an aspiring young rapper. His father, Ken Williams-Bennett, was a prominent presence in the city: He first served as an aide to former Chicago mayor Harold Washington and then worked for Barack Obama, who was a senator at the time. Williams-Bennett, who is now a deputy chief of staff to Mayor Rahm Emanuel, dreamed that his son might one day hold office.

.2009
Back in 2009, Drake was supposed to pass through my show, but he canceled at the last minute due to a studio session that was running late........with Rihanna. I wasn't not mad at him at all lol. I hooked up with him the following day, instead of doing the usual studio interview, we hit Hyde Park, which is London's equivalent of Central Park. Drake breaks down: *The Rihanna situation. *Working with Kanye West *Working with Chase & Status *The forth-coming album and releasing it independently. .....and more.
To bring in 2014, the One Nation team put on a killer New Years Eve event at the Carl Benz centre, Stutgartt, Germany. 7 DJs from across Europe; France, Switzerland, the UK, and of course Germany. It was a brilliant night, the best way to bring in 2014. Big up One Nation, Petros, DJ Maaleek, Jeezy Boi, Sweap. PFund, and the rest of the team. Show with my new Gopro Hero 3+.

http://www.djsemtex.com Dj Semtex spins for the UK's no.1 MC Dizzee Rascal. Live on stage at the Ibiza Rocks hotel. This is basically Europe's equivalent of Cancun or Miami. The crowd is crazy, the girls are off the hook!
South London rapper performs Picture Me live on a piano at Maida Vale, for DJ Semtex.
The Tongue N Cheek tour was sold out several months ago. We started out in Edinburgh last night, and tonight we were in Glasgow. Dizzee felt that it was only right that he repped Scotland to the fullest, and performed Bonkers.......wearing a kilt. Braveheart hasn't got sh*t on Dizzee Rascal. You're so not ready for the Skanks.
Recently, I was spinning alongside Travis Scott at a show in London. Equipment got smashed, promoters got nervous, management upset. Its cool though, the crowd was fully turnt and it was easily one of the sickest shows of the year. Travis performed everything of Owl Pharaoh, the Neptune Estate remix, 10 2 10, and the latest single 1975. Live shots by Ciesay.
