Vic (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈbik]) is the capital of the comarca of Osona, in the Barcelona Province, Catalonia, Spain. Vic's location is 69 km from Barcelona and 60 km from Girona. Vic's position has made it one of the most important towns in central Catalonia.
Geography
Vic lies in the middle of the Plain of Vic, equidistant from Barcelona and the Pyrenees.
Vic is famous for its persistent fog in winter as a result of a persistent thermal inversion with temperatures as low as -10 °C and an absolute record of -24 °C. Episodes of cold and severe snowstorms are noticeable. In summer, storms are very common during the dry season, typical of the Mediterranean climate of coastal Catalonia. For that reason the natural vegetation includes the pubescent oak typical of the sub-Mediterranean climates of eastern France, Northern Italy and the Balkans.
History
Vic is of ancient origin. In past times it was called Ausa by the Romans. Iberian coins bearing this name have been found there. The Visigoths called it Ausona. Sewage caps on sidewalks around the city will also read "Vich," an old form of the name.

Del Rosario
Del Rosario, in Spanish and Italian languages, and do Rosário in Portuguese language (English: of the rosary) is a surname that has as its etymology, the Latin preposition, "de" meaning "of the" and the Latin noun "rosarium", meaning "rosegarden" or "garland of roses" but in this case, takes the meaning of "rosary", the Roman Catholic devotion to the Virgin Mary. In fact, its origins are from the Middle Ages, around the 12th century, and it is much associated with the cult of the Virgin Mary at the time when the rose became part of the holy aura, which surrounded anything to do with Mary, and the Our Lady of the Rosary's Feast of the Holy Rosary. This surname is common in Romance languages regions, and is also one of the most common surnames in the Philippines and other islands of Spanish East Indies since the mid-19th century, and where it is one of the most popular clans together with Cruz, Santos, Reyes, Gonzales, Bautista, García, Mendoza, Aquino, and others, because there are so many people that have this surname.

The MYX Music Awards is an accolade presented by the cable channel Myx to honor the biggest hitmakers in the Philippines. The awards ceremony is held annually and occurs most commonly in the month of March, and broadcast delayed on Myx. MYX viewers from all over the Philippines decide the winners in 17 major categories via SMS text messaging by 2010 it is 60% fan votes through internet and 40% artists votes.
Sarah Geronimo has the most wins in the history of the awards ceremony.

Ramon Zamora
Ramon Artiaga Zamora (June 27, 1935 — August 26, 2007) was a Filipino film actor best known for his leading roles in local martial arts films and action movies of the 1970s. He was popularly dubbed as the "Bruce Lee of the Philippines".
Early career
Zamora was born in San Juan, Rizal. He began his entertainment career in 1953 as a stuntman and dancer for LVN Pictures. He persevered in the bodabil circuit, performing regularly at the Clover Theater and the Manila Grand Opera House. He also was a member of the Festival Dancers, a dance troupe which performed international tours regularly.
From his stage performances, he was contracted in 1969 to star as a mainstay of the ABS-CBN gag show Super Laff-In. Zamora's most popular stock character in the show was a military-clad figure that bore an unmistakable physical resemblance to Adolf Hitler, who spoke in bastardized German and spouted catchphrases such as "Isprakenheit". The role won him the "Best Actor Citizen's Award for Television".

Rey Malonzo
Reynaldo Malonzo or Rey Malonzo was a former Filipino actor, film director and politician in the Philippines. He was a famous action star doing mostly martial arts in his films during the 1970s up to the 1980s.
Film career
In the 1970s, Malonzo rose to popularity by way of kung fu and karate movies. Malonzo, together with Ramon Zamora gave rise to the so-called Pinoy Bruce Lee clones in the late 70s. They starred in such films as Bruce Liit (1978) with Nino Muhlach, Ang Hari At Ang Alas (1978), The Deadly Rookies (1978) with Rio Locsin and Kambal Dragon (1978). He did also a string of martial arts films including Chaku Master in 1974, and They Call Him Bruce Lee in 1979. In the 1980s, he became a director using his alternate name, Reginald King in his films, Pedrong Palaka (1980), Tigre Ng Sierra Madre (1982), Roman Sebastian (1983), and Maestro Bandido (1983) among others. In 1987, he starred with American actors David Anderson, Brett Baxter Clark, and Robert Patrick for the film Eye Of The Eagle.

“Le Port de L'Amour” (The Harbor of Love) was first written and copyrighted by Vic Sadot in English in 1973 as “In the Harbor of Love”. A translation to French was begun in Cherbourg harbour in 2003 while sitting at a cafe table with Jean-Marie Sadot. It was recorded in both languages in 2011 at Robot Envy Studio in Berkeley for a 2013 CD release. The English version is posted at Last FM on both “Berkeley Calling” and “Songs of the Seasons” CD's. The video in French features Vic Sadot on vocals and acoustic guitar and Eric Golub on viola and ukulele. The video attempts to capture some of the romantic ambiance with harbor scenes from Normandy. Natural and human history museum as well as the British Columbia Provincial Archives. Founded in 1886. Includes three permanent galleries: modern history, natural history, and local First Nations’ history. The museum’s collections comprise approximately 7 million objects.
02. Craigdarroch Castle
A historic, Victorian-era Scottish Baronial mansion. The "bonanza castle" was designated a National Historic Site of Canada due to its landmark status in Victoria. Has 39 rooms and over 25,000 square feet (2,300 m2). Constructed in the late 1800s as a family residence for the wealthy coal baron Robert Dunsmuir and his wife Joan.
03. Butchart Gardens
A group of floral display gardens in Brentwood Bay. Receive close to a million visitors each year. The gardens have been designated a National Historic Site of Canada due to their international renown.
04. Miniature World
Miniature-themed dioramas and displays representing historical times and fictional worlds. Over 85 exciting miniature dioramas and displays. One of the most popular tourist attractions in downtown.
05. Beacon Hill Park
A 75 ha (200 acre) park located along the shore of Juan de Fuca Strait. Contains a number of amenities including woodland and shoreline trails, two playgrounds, a waterpark, playing fields, a petting zoo, tennis courts, many ponds, and landscaped gardens.
06. Victoria Bug Zoo
A two-room minizoo that is located in downtown. Exhibits about 50 species of insects, arachnids, and Myriapoda. Currently the largest tropical insect collection in North America. Visitors can hold and handle different varieties of species like tarantulas, cockroaches, scorpions, walking sticks, millipedes, and praying mantis. Has Canada's largest ant farm that contains leaf-cutter ants.
07. Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Site
The first lighthouse on the west coast of Canada. Was built in 1860 to guide vessels through the entrance of Esquimalt harbour. It was named after HMS Fisgard, a British Navy ship that spent time in the Pacific. Designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1958. Also a Classified Federal Heritage Building.
08. British Columbia Aviation Museum
The Museum consists of a display area spread over two hangars, a classroom, a restoration workshop and a gift shop. Displays include historical civilian and military artefacts including uniforms, medals and models. Located in Sidney, British Columbia, Canada. It is on the grounds of the Victoria International Airport.
09. Thunderbird Park
A park in Victoria next to the Royal British Columbia Museum. Home to many totem poles (mostly Gitxsan, Haida, and Kwakwaka'wakw) and other First Nation monuments. Totem poles were first erected on the site in 1940 as part of a conservation effort to preserve some of the region's rapidly deteriorating Aboriginal art.

A park in Victoria next to the Royal British Columbia Museum. Home to many totem poles (mostly Gitxsan, Haida, and Kwakwaka'wakw) and other First Nation monuments. Totem poles were first erected on the site in 1940 as part of a conservation effort to preserve some of the region's rapidly deteriorating Aboriginal art.

Limited tourism, a combination of untouched wilderness and the comfort and luxury of a handful of safari camps, makes this Africa’s model country. Our journey begins in nearby Zimbabwe that is located close to Botswana’s northern frontier at Victoria Falls that is undoubtedly one of the most impressive natural wonders in the world. Eighty kilometres west and we have crossed the Botswana border and arrive in the first large city in the north of the country, Kasane, that is located on the Chobe River and marks the country’s frontier with Namibia. In addition to growing tourism the fishing industry is also important to Kasane’s economy. The river contains an abundance of fish and so the local fishermen are provided with a good income to support their families. Since 1915 Ma-Un has been Botswana’s main city and until the beginning of the 1990s was only accessible via dusty gravel roads, a border town on the edge of a vast wilderness. The state run Moremi National Park that extends for around a hundred thousand hectares is the largest nature reserve in the Okavango Delta. It is located on Chief’s Island, the largest island in the region. In recent years further private wildlife reserves have been established that are well worth a visit and are also strictly controlled and protected natural habitats. Amid the African wilderness we arrive at a luxurious lodge that is not only the ideal starting point for many safaris but also provides a good degree of relaxation after an exhausting day out. Suddenly two members of the San Tribe approach the lodge. These ‘Bushmen’ will accompany us on our journey into the Kalahari Desert that is also their home. Elephant herds on the Chobe River, the vast wilderness of the Kalahari and the mystique of the Okavango Delta help to make Botswana one of the last great paradises on Earth!

Mexico’s notorious Day of the Dead celebrations will be brought to London for a four-day festival of art, film and music hosted at The Old Vic Tunnels from the 31st October to 3rd November.
The festival will feature the photography of the acclaimed Mexican artist Graciela Iturbide, alongside newly commissioned installations from visual artists Hew Locke, Le Gun, Dr Lakra and Nancy Fouts.
The Cabinet of Living Cinema will be performing a newly commissioned live score to accompany the screenings of the Alejandro Jodorowsky classic film ‘Santa Sangre’ and Rodrigo y Gabriela will be featured each night, performing the first leg of their 2012 world tour. The Day of the Dead is an annual holiday celebrated throughout Mexico to honour and remember loved ones who have died, and send prayers to those who are recently departed.
The festival is usually celebrated for two days beginning November 1: Día de los Inocentes (Day of the Innocents), specifically for remembering children, and the day and night of November 2: Dia de los Muertos – the Day of the Dead. It is believed at this time the gates to the afterworld are open and prayers of the living can freely travel to the realm of the deceased. Likewise the deceased can make a journey to accept offerings from their relatives and friends.
These offerings take the form of favourite foods and drink or earthly delights such as mole and tequila. Sometimes these are placed at the graveside but it is common for brightly coloured altars to be built decorated with candles and festooned with marigolds (cempasuchitl – meaning flower of the dead: their scent and colour act as a guide).
Earth and seeds are also placed as reminders to the living that ‘from dust thou art and unto dust thou shalt return.’
Skulls have always been part of the festivities. In pre-Hispanic Mexico they were kept as trophies and used in ancestor rituals to symbolise death and rebirth. In the modern Day of the Dead skulls made of sugar and inscribed with the dead person’s name act as playful reminders to spirits who might have strayed form their path to the afterworld. As with all food and drink offered, it is consumed by the spirits as sustenance for their journey, and the living may also partake although the nutritional essence is believed gone. Pan de Muerto (bread of the dead) is also traditionally baked for the altarpieces; inscribed with a name and shaped to evoke bones.
Although originating in Mexico as a hybrid tradition influenced by Spanish and the Pre-Hispanic civilizations, the Day of the Dead has parallel celebrations in Brazil and Spain, and similar observances occur in European, African and Asian culture.

“Le Port de L'Amour” (The Harbor of Love) was first written and copyrighted by Vic Sadot in English in 1973 as “In the Harbor of Love”. A translation to French was begun in Cherbourg harbour in 2003 while sitting at a cafe table with Jean-Marie Sadot. It was recorded in both languages in 2011 at Robot Envy Studio in Berkeley for a 2013 CD release. The English version is posted at Last FM on both “Berkeley Calling” and “Songs of the Seasons” CD's. The video in French features Vic Sadot on vocals and acoustic guitar and Eric Golub on viola and ukulele. The video attempts to capture some of the romantic ambiance with harbor scenes from Normandy. Vic's father was from Normandy, France and served in the Free French Navy in WWII. Jean-Henri Sadot became an American citizen and a poet in English in his later years. Jean Sadot's poem “Moods of the Sea” and Phil Ochs' song “Pleasures of the Harbor” are cited as influences on this song by singer-songwriter Vic Sadot.

“Le Port de L'Amour” (The Harbor of Love) was first written and copyrighted by Vic Sadot in English in 1973 as “In the Harbor of Love”.
