Baroque Suite is a short visual-music composition that invites the audience to "listen to image" and to "see sound" in five synesthetic movements. The formal structure is guided by the traditional Baroque Suite: a set of musical movements as exemplified by Western European composers from the early 18th century. This Baroque influence also extends to the film's content; references to idiomatic musical gestures and painting techniques as well as common Baroque subjects/aesthetics are all present.
The composition is built upon the guiding principle that creative collaboration in visual-music must have no boundaries of input between composer and filmmaker. Thus the process was to conceive and realize images and sounds simultaneously, in a serious attempt to create continuum between media while not sacrificing the most expressive conventions relative to each.

Baroque music
Baroque music is a style of music composed from approximately 1600 to 1750. This era followed the Renaissance, and was followed in turn by the Classical era. The word "baroque" comes from the Portuguese word barroco, meaning misshapen pearl. The negative use of the word comes from a description by Charles de Brosses of the ornate and heavily ornamented architecture of the Pamphili Palace in Rome. Although the term was applied to architecture and art criticism in the 19th century, it wasn't until the 20th century that the term "baroque" was adopted from Heinrich Wölfflin's art-history vocabulary as a designator for a historical period.

Classical music
Classical music is art music produced or rooted in the traditions of Western music, including both liturgical (religious) and secular music. While a similar term is also used to refer to the period from 1750-1820 (the Classical period), this article is about the broad span of time from roughly the 11th century to the present day, which includes the Classical period and various other periods. The central norms of this tradition became codified between 1550 and 1900, which is known as the common practice period. The major time divisions of classical music are as follows: the early music period, which includes the Medieval (500–1400) and the Renaissance (1400–1600) eras; the Common practice period, which includes the Baroque (1600–1750), Classical (1750–1820), and Romantic eras (1804–1910); and the 20th century (1901–2000) which includes the modern (1890–1930) that overlaps from the late 19th-century, the high modern (mid 20th-century), and contemporary or postmodern (1975–2015) eras.

Baroque
The Baroque (US /bəˈroʊk/ or UK /bəˈrɒk/) is often thought of as a period of artistic style that used exaggerated motion and clear, easily interpreted detail to produce drama, tension, exuberance, and grandeur in sculpture, painting, architecture, literature, dance, theater, and music. The style began around 1600 in Rome, Italy, and spread to most of Europe.
The popularity and success of the Baroque style was encouraged by the Catholic Church, which had decided at the time of the Council of Trent, in response to the Protestant Reformation, that the arts should communicate religious themes in direct and emotional involvement. The aristocracy also saw the dramatic style of Baroque architecture and art as a means of impressing visitors and expressing triumph, power and control. Baroque palaces are built around an entrance of courts, grand staircases and reception rooms of sequentially increasing opulence. However, "baroque" has resonance and application that extend beyond a simple reduction to either style or period.

Music
Music is an art form and cultural activity whose medium is sound and silence. The common elements of music are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics (loudness and softness), and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture (which are sometimes termed the "color" of a musical sound). Different styles or types of music may emphasize, de-emphasize or omit some of these elements. Music is performed with a vast range of instruments and with vocal techniques ranging from singing to rapping, and there are solely instrumental pieces, solely vocal pieces and pieces that combine singing and instruments. The word derives from Greek μουσική (mousike; "art of the Muses"). In its most general form, the activities describing music as an art form include the production of works of music (songs, tunes, symphonies, and so on), the criticism of music, the study of the history of music, and the aesthetic examination of music. Ancient Greek and Indian philosophers defined music as tones ordered horizontally as melodies and vertically as harmonies. Common sayings such as "the harmony of the spheres" and "it is music to my ears" point to the notion that music is often ordered and pleasant to listen to. However, 20th-century composer John Cage thought that any sound can be music, saying, for example, "There is no noise, only sound."

In a three year research study, Maya Ruvinshteyn and Leonard Parrino, instructors in math at Essex County College and Rutgers-Newark, found when they played baroque background music in their classes, it made a difference. Here's how... 86 % of students surveyed enjoyed class more with baroque background music whereas 76 % of students without any music found the class enjoyable 33 % of students found math challenging whereas 46 % in the class without the baroque music found it challenging. Earlier research findings show that Baroque music enhances learning of foreign languages and improves performance in some types of tests. Why Baroque Music? Research reveals that Baroque music pulses between 50 to 80 beats per minute. Baroque music "stabilizes mental, physical and emotional rhythms," according to Chris Boyd Brewer, "to attain a state of deep concentration and focus in which large amounts of content information can be processed and learned." Music affects your brain waves. Slower baroques, such as Bach, Handel, Vivaldi or Corelli, can create mentally stimulating environments for creativity and new innovations. [Please view with headphones in full screen.] Baroque Suite is a short visual-music composition that invites the audience to "listen to image" and to "see sound" in five synesthetic movements. The formal structure is guided by the traditional Baroque Suite: a set of musical movements as exemplified by Western European composers from the early 18th century. This Baroque influence also extends to the film's content; references to idiomatic musical gestures and painting techniques as well as common Baroque subjects/aesthetics are all present. The composition is built upon the guiding principle that creative collaboration in visual-music must have no boundaries of input between composer and filmmaker. Thus the process was to conceive and realize images and sounds simultaneously, in a serious attempt to create continuum between media while not sacrificing the most expressive conventions relative to each. Baroque Suite is a composition that invites the audience to "listen to image" and to "see sound" in five synesthetic movements. The formal structure is guided by the traditional Baroque Suite: a set of musical movements as exemplified by Western European composers from the early 18th century. This Baroque influence also extends to the film's content; references to idiomatic musical gestures and painting techniques as well as common Baroque subjects/aesthetics are all present. The composition is built upon the guiding principle that creative collaboration in visual-music must have no boundaries of input between composer and filmmaker. Baroque Suite is a short visual-music composition that invites the audience to "listen to image" and to "see sound" in five synesthetic movements. The formal structure is guided by the traditional Baroque Suite: a set of musical movements as exemplified by Western European composers from the early 18th century. This Baroque influence also extends to the film's content; references to idiomatic musical gestures and painting techniques as well as common Baroque subjects/aesthetics are all present.
The composition is built upon the guiding principle that creative collaboration in visual-music must have no boundaries of input between composer and filmmaker. Thus the process was to conceive and realize images and sounds simultaneously, in a serious attempt to create continuum between media while not sacrificing the most expressive conventions relative to each.

The formal structure is guided by the traditional Baroque Suite: a set of musical movements as exemplified by Western European composers from the early 18th century. 33 % of students found math challenging whereas 46 % in the class without the baroque music found it challenging.
Earlier research findings show that Baroque music enhances learning of foreign languages and improves performance in some types of tests.
Why Baroque Music? Research reveals that Baroque music pulses between 50 to 80 beats per minute. Baroque music "stabilizes mental, physical and emotional rhythms," according to Chris Boyd Brewer, "to attain a state of deep concentration and focus in which large amounts of content information can be processed and learned."

Baroque Suite is a short visual-music composition that invites the audience to "listen to image" and to "see sound" in five synesthetic movements. The formal structure is guided by the traditional Baroque Suite: a set of musical movements as exemplified by Western European composers from the early 18th century. This Baroque influence also extends to the film's content; references to idiomatic musical gestures and painting techniques as well as common Baroque subjects/aesthetics are all present.
The composition is built upon the guiding principle that creative collaboration in visual-music must have no boundaries of input between composer and filmmaker. Thus the process was to conceive and realize images and sounds simultaneously, in a serious attempt to create continuum between media while not sacrificing the most expressive conventions relative to each.

Baroque Suite is a short visual-music composition that invites the audience to "listen to image" and to "see sound" in five synesthetic movements. The formal structure is guided by the traditional Baroque Suite: a set of musical movements as exemplified by Western European composers from the early 18th century. This Baroque influence also extends to the film's content; references to idiomatic musical gestures and painting techniques as well as common Baroque subjects/aesthetics are all present.
The composition is built upon the guiding principle that creative collaboration in visual-music must have no boundaries of input between composer and filmmaker. Thus the process was to conceive and realize images and sounds simultaneously, in a serious attempt to create continuum between media while not sacrificing the most expressive conventions relative to each.
