Mobility scooter on Coronation Drive

A man drives a mobility scooter down Brisbane's Coronation Drive, doing about 10km/h, to the shock of local office workers and motorists.

"We were in the lunchroom having a coffee as you do and looked out onto the road and we could see a little mobility scooter coming past in the right hand lane," he said.

"There was a bus behind him trying to get past and a whole lot of traffic behind him.

"It went from laughter to I hope he doesn't get injured."

Mr Jones said the daring man stopped his scooter briefly as a bus driver drove past before he continued along.

Mr Jones said he saw the man come back in the opposite direction a little while later.

"He came zooming past on the footpath so he obviously didn't get into any trouble," he said.

"I was a little bit shocked...it is quite comical.

"He was doing about 10 kilometres an hour."

Police said they were called to the scene just before 11am however the man was long gone.
