The first in-depth look at Game of Thrones season seven is finally here.

In the trailer, Queen Cersei stands over a giant map of Westeros and explains to her lover-brother Jaime how the other houses have them surrounded.

Trailer: Game of Thrones Season 7

The battle for the Iron Throne intensifies, while the threat from north of the wall approaches as Game of Thrones edges towards its final conclusion in its second-to-last season.

"Enemies to the east, enemies to the west," she says. "Enemies to the south, enemies to the north. Whatever stands in our way, we will defeat it."

But those words sound hollow as Daenyrys Targaryen's army is shown cutting down Lannister soldiers left, right and centre.

Another moment worth noting is when Davos Seaworth, Jon Snow's trusted advisor, addresses an unknown character.

"If we don't put aside our enemies and band together, we will die," he says. "And then it doesn't matter whose skeleton sits on the Iron Throne."

It is widely speculated that Ser Davos is talking to the Mother of Dragons. Paparazzi set photos have shown Jon Snow and his right-hand man travelling to meet with Daenyrys.

If this theory holds true, the Stark-Targaryen alliance could very well sweep Cersei off the Iron Throne.

But, as we know too well, when it comes to Game of Thrones it ain't that easy (think of the shocking twists and turns throughout the series, including the infamous red wedding scene).

All will be revealed when season seven drops on July 16.

One thing is already certain, though. As Jon Snow says in the trailer: "The great war is here."Â
