RCA Records is an American flagship recording label (alongside Columbia Records and Epic Records) of Sony Music Entertainment (SME). It releases multiple genres of music including pop, rock, hip-hop, R&B, blues, jazz and, through RCA Nashville, country.
The company's name is derived from the initials of the label's former parent company, Radio Corporation of America. It is the second-oldest recording company in U.S. history, after Columbia. RCA's Canadian unit (formerly Berliner Gramophone Canada) is Sony's oldest label in Canada. It was one of only two Canadian record companies to survive the Great Depression.
In 2006,RCA also recently signed VDADON fSony BMG merged its former Broadway music and classical labels, including Red Seal and Gold Seal, to Sony Masterworks. Legacy Recordings, Sony Music Entertainment's catalog division, reissues classic albums for RCA.
In 1929, Radio Corporation of America (RCA) purchased the Victor Talking Machine Company, then the world's largest manufacturer of phonographs (including the famous "Victrola") and phonograph records (in British English, "gramophone records"). The company then became RCA Victor. With Victor, RCA acquired New World rights to the famous Nipper trademark. While in Shanghai, China, RCA Victor was the main competitor with Baak Doi.
Rock City, also known as R. City and Planet VI, is an American musical duo from Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, formed in 2003. The duo, composed of brothers Theron and Timothy Thomas, who use the stage names, A.I. and Uptown AP respectively, are also a songwriting and record production team. The Thomas brothers also write and produce for other artists, including Jamaican artiste, Sean Kingston ("Take You There"), American singer, Miley Cyrus ("We Can't Stop"), Trinidadian rapper Nicki Minaj ("Only") and Barbadian popstar Rihanna ("Pour It Up").
The duo has also contributed to numerous Grammy-nominated albums including Rihanna's Unapologetic (which won Best Urban Contemporary Album), Jennifer Hudson's self-titled album (which won Best R&B Album), and Ariana Grande's My Everything (which was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album).
Rock City also releases original music, having released several mixtapes since 2008. The group had previously been signed to Geffen Records and KonLive, where they released a series of mixtapes with the primary title, PTFAO (Put the F*ckin' Album Out)—a reference to the fact that their debut album Wake the Neighbors, had not been given a release date. In 2011, the duo was released from their contract with KonLive, and founded Rebelution Records, on which they intended to release their debut album. A new album, What Dreams Are Made Of, is due to be released in 2015, after being signed to Kemosabe Records and RCA Records by Dr. Luke.
Jacob O'Neal Latimore, Jr. (born August 10, 1996) is an American singer, actor, and dancer.
Latimore was born in Milwaukee, the son of Latitia Taylor and Jacob Latimore, Sr. When he was only five years old he watched the movie The Temptations – an ode to the popular Motown group – and fell in love with music. He spent weeks watching the movie over and over, trying to memorize the songs and learn all the dance moves. Jacob’s father and uncles were also musically talented and encouraged his interest. When he was nine years old he decided to take music more seriously and produced his first song, “Best Friend.” DJs across Wilwaukee instantly took to the song, and “Best Friend” received constant airtime. At the same time, Jacob was performing at events and festivals across the state, trying to make a name for himself.
By a stroke of luck someone at Disney heard Jacob’s song and decided to add it to Radio Disney’s Incubator program, which features upcoming young musicians. This led to exposure with other talented artists and an appearance on the Maury Povich Show. Jacob released a new single, “Superstar,” which shot him to fame and landed a spot on the Billboard R&B and Hip Hop charts. In early 2010, Jacob signed a record deal with Jive Records. He also scored a lead role in the film Vanishing on 7th Street and a part in the upcoming movie “The Untitled Pele Movie” about the Brazilian soccer player. Jacob partnered with fellow Jive artists Issa and Justin Martin for the song “Camera Phone,” and in October 2010 the three artists filmed the music video. With so many projects in the works, Jacob Latimore is sure to be a household name very soon. “I give all credit to God, he gave me this gift, and I am so excited to see what other doors he is going to open for me!”

An outstanding RCA Victor documentary from 1942 on how shellac records were made. Well written narration, excellent visualization. It's a pretty fascinating process, involving cutting an original wax disc, electroplating it into a metal master disc, making a stronger mother disc from the master, and making stamping discs from those. Mixing the shellac, stamping the records, and packing and shipping is also covered. This is one of the more interesting factory tour films out there, and since it covers an outdated technology, it has quite a bit of historical value as well.
