Have you ever been in a conversation with someone and they mention, “You look so familiar. Have we met before?” Maybe you have been walking down the street, watching TV or flipping through a magazine and you spot someone makes you do a double take because they look similar to you. Like really similar. You may have just found your doppelgänger.
A doppelgänger is an apparition or double of a living person. A person you have never met and who is not related, but looks exactly like you. According to researchers, the chances of finding your real-life double are very slim. A PhD student at the University of Adelaide School of Medicine, Teghan Lucas, conducted a study using a combination of facial metrics and found that the probability of finding two faces in the same measurements in the general population was less than one in a trillion.
However, it is reported that each person has an average of seven people in the world that could be their unrelated twin. Posts on social media of people coincidentally running into their doppelgänger have received a large amount of attention. Just like Neil Douglas who met his spitting image mistakenly sitting in the plane seat he was assigned on a flight to Ireland. Social media has also served as a convenient source for those around the globe to come across someone with similar features.
This has snowballed into sites like Instagram, Facebook and YouTube being used intentionally for people seeking their doubles. Projects like Irish TV host Niamh Geaney’s “Twin Strangers” used the power of the interwebs to seek her closest match to win a month-long challenge between her and her friends. This project invited people around the globe, who thought they looked similar to the three friends, to submit their photos. Niamh came across two women who shared strikingly similar characteristics to her own. They had things like the same hair color, smile and eye shape. She documented meeting her first lookalike and said, “Karen probably looks more like me than my sisters do.”
The “Twin Strangers” project became a globally viral sensation in a very short period of time. People seemed to be fascinated with the idea that there was someone out there that wasn’t genetically related at all but looked very similar to them. Niamh took notice of how the popular the video had become and made TwinStrangers.com to help others find their doppelgänger anywhere in the world. In fact, they have documented a few stories of these lookalike matches that have been made on the site.

Related is an American comedy-drama series that aired on The WB network during the 2005-2006 television season. It revolved around the lives of four close-knit sisters - of Italian descent, raised in Brooklyn - living in New York City.
The show was created by former Sex and the City writer Liz Tuccillo, and executive produced by Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman. Despite heavy promotion, initial ratings did not warrant the show being picked up for a second season when The WB network was folded into The CW.

Gang Related
Gang Related is a 1997 American crime thriller film written and directed by Jim Kouf starring James Belushi, Tupac Shakur, Dennis Quaid, Lela Rochon, David Paymer and James Earl Jones. The film revolves around two renegade detectives who attempt to frame a homeless man for the murder of an undercover DEA agent they themselves had killed. The film is notable for being Tupac Shakur's last film performance.
Plot
Vice police detectives Frank Divinci (James Belushi) and Jake Rodriguez (Tupac Shakur) gun down narcotics dealer Lionel Hudd (Kool Moe Dee), after the two engage illegally in drug trafficking; this is in order to recover the cocaine Hudd purchased from them. When Divinci and Rodriguez find out Hudd was actually a "deep cover" DEA agent—because Hudd's partner, Richard Simms (Gary Cole) drops by their precinct for help sniffing out the killers—they try to frame anyone else with the murder. It does not help that Rodriguez has outstanding gambling debts, and that a huge man known only as "Mr. Cutlass Supreme" (Tiny Lister) is on his case for it. After arresting numerous felons without success (because they cannot possibly link Hudd's murder to any of them), Divinci and Rodriguez arrest a homeless drunk by the name of Joe Doe (Dennis Quaid). While Joe is still intoxicated, the detectives convince him that he shot Hudd. They even make him sign a confession. Divinci and Rodriguez convince local stripper Cynthia Webb (Lela Rochon), also Divinci's mistress, who was the "bait" in their trap for Hudd, to "identify" Joe in a police line-up.

Have we met before?” Maybe you have been walking down the street, watching TV or flipping through a magazine and you spot someone makes you do a double take because they look similar to you. Like really similar. You may have just found your doppelgänger.
A doppelgänger is an apparition or double of a living person. A person you have never met and who is not related, but looks exactly like you. According to researchers, the chances of finding your real-life double are very slim. A PhD student at the University of Adelaide School of Medicine, Teghan Lucas, conducted a study using a combination of facial metrics and found that the probability of finding two faces in the same measurements in the general population was less than one in a trillion.
However, it is reported that each person has an average of seven people in the world that could be their unrelated twin. Posts on social media of people coincidentally running into their doppelgänger have received a large amount of attention. Just like Neil Douglas who met his spitting image mistakenly sitting in the plane seat he was assigned on a flight to Ireland. Social media has also served as a convenient source for those around the globe to come across someone with similar features.
This has snowballed into sites like Instagram, Facebook and YouTube being used intentionally for people seeking their doubles. Projects like Irish TV host Niamh Geaney’s “Twin Strangers” used the power of the interwebs to seek her closest match to win a month-long challenge between her and her friends. This project invited people around the globe, who thought they looked similar to the three friends, to submit their photos. Niamh came across two women who shared strikingly similar characteristics to her own. They had things like the same hair color, smile and eye shape. She documented meeting her first lookalike and said, “Karen probably looks more like me than my sisters do.”
The “Twin Strangers” project became a globally viral sensation in a very short period of time. People seemed to be fascinated with the idea that there was someone out there that wasn’t genetically related at all but looked very similar to them. Niamh took notice of how the popular the video had become and made TwinStrangers.com to help others find their doppelgänger anywhere in the world. In fact, they have documented a few stories of these lookalike matches that have been made on the site.

In part 3 of our special series on human ancestry, we investigate how closely related we all really are. Basic math tells us that all humans share ancestors. But you’ll be amazed at how recently those shared ancestors lived. Thanks to genetic data in the 21st century, we’re even discovering that we really are all descended from one mother.

A doppelgänger is an apparition or double of a living person. A person you have never met and who is not related, but looks exactly like you. According to researchers, the chances of finding your real-life double are very slim. A PhD student at the University of Adelaide School of Medicine, Teghan Lucas, conducted a study using a combination of facial metrics and found that the probability of finding two faces in the same measurements in the general population was less than one in a trillion.
However, it is reported that each person has an average of seven people in the world that could be their unrelated twin. Posts on social media of people coincidentally running into their doppelgänger have received a large amount of attention. Just like Neil Douglas who met his spitting image mistakenly sitting in the plane seat he was assigned on a flight to Ireland. Social media has also served as a convenient source for those around the globe to come across someone with similar features.
This has snowballed into sites like Instagram, Facebook and YouTube being used intentionally for people seeking their doubles. Projects like Irish TV host Niamh Geaney’s “Twin Strangers” used the power of the interwebs to seek her closest match to win a month-long challenge between her and her friends. This project invited people around the globe, who thought they looked similar to the three friends, to submit their photos. Niamh came across two women who shared strikingly similar characteristics to her own. They had things like the same hair color, smile and eye shape. She documented meeting her first lookalike and said, “Karen probably looks more like me than my sisters do.”
The “Twin Strangers” project became a globally viral sensation in a very short period of time. People seemed to be fascinated with the idea that there was someone out there that wasn’t genetically related at all but looked very similar to them. Niamh took notice of how the popular the video had become and made TwinStrangers.com to help others find their doppelgänger anywhere in the world. In fact, they have documented a few stories of these lookalike matches that have been made on the site.
