RECIPE VAULT AT LEGACY.COM WINS BEST NEW BRAND PUBLICATION

Series Honoring Food Memories Wins at Digiday Publishing Awards

Mar 29, 2016 - Evanston, Illinois – The Recipe Vault – a Legacy.com editorial series in which celebrity chefs and food bloggers share how recipes connect us to those we've lost — was recognized in New York last week at the annual Digiday Publishing Awards. The innovative series won best new brand publication for its success in highlighting how sharing recipes and food memories can help keep loved ones’ legacies alive.

Halley Burns, Legacy.com senior managing editor, shares, "This was really a passion project for the team. Linnea Crowther, who led the majority of the interviews, was able to draw out the most beautiful and personal stories. It’s an honor for us to share these cherished family memories that also happen to be delicious."

The stories range from an incredibly touching interview with the Food Network’s Duff Goldman, who made Mamo’s Mushroom Barley Soup With Short Ribs to nurture his grandmother at the end of her life, to a lighthearted tribute to the “Lemmy” (a drink named to honor Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister). Pati Jinich, the host of “Pati’s Mexican Table” on the Public Broadcasting Service, explained the emotional significance of Pan de Muerto, a dish made to connect the bereaved to lost loved ones, and Chef Ming Tsai of “Simply Ming” shared cherished food memories from Taiwan.

Readers will find the lightest of pancakes and the most savory of stews, all in tribute.

“We are incredibly grateful to all of our chefs for sharing these personal stories,” says Burns. “A huge thank you to our contributors and to Digiday for recognizing the Recipe Vault.”
