Foster care is a system in which a minor has been placed into a ward, group home, or private home of a state-certified caregiver referred to as a "foster parent". The placement of the child is normally arranged through the government or a social-service agency. The institution, group home or foster parent is compensated for expenses.
The state via the family court and child protection agency stand in loco parentis to the minor, making all legal decisions while the foster parent is responsible for the day-to-day care of the minor.
The vast majority of children who would otherwise need foster care are in kinship care, that is, in the care of grandparents or other relatives. Most kinship care is done informally, without the involvement of a court or public organization. However, in the U.S., formal kinship care is increasingly common. In 2012, a quarter of all children in formal foster care were placed with relatives.
Cats Protection, formerly The Cat Protection League, is a UK charity dedicated to rescuing and rehoming stray, unwanted or homeless cats and educating people about cats and cat welfare. The organisation was founded as The Cats Protection League on 16 May 1927 at a meeting in Caxton Hall, London. The name was shortened in 1998.
In 2013 the charity helped over 194,000 cats (rehoming around 42,000 of these and neutering 158,000) and its network had 29 adoption centres (formerly shelters), 250+ volunteer-run branches, two rehoming centres, 69 charity shops and approximately 9,000 volunteers and staff located throughout the UK. The charity's income for 2010 was £36 million. In 2011 the charity announced that it had helped more than one million cats over the previous five years, 80% of this figure being neutering and 20% being rehoming. Alongside rehoming cats and kittens, the charity runs a neutering scheme for owners on a limited income, and a part-time weekday national helpline, (03000 12 12 12) In addition, they monitor (and feed) feral colonies in the area including trapping, neutering and re-releasing (where possible) feral cats back to where they came from. They also work to educate adults and youngsters about cat welfare and run talks and educational resource programmes across the UK.
Untold Stories of the E.R. is a docudrama television series which airs on TLC and Discovery Fit & Health.
In this program real-life emergency room doctors tell about their most bizarre and puzzling cases. Typically these involve medical sabotage, violently or strangely acting patients, life-threatening injuries, or even situations in which the E.R. physician is too overwhelmed to handle the caseload and can't transfer responsibility for the patient to someone else.
Often the doctors play themselves, and whenever possible the patients themselves take part in the reenactment as well. If they don't appear as themselves during their medical emergency, they are often shown in brief interviews to show the public how they turned out. Occasionally, patients' names are changed and actors play their roles. All cases are based on actual events, but are highly dramatized and not necessarily accurate from a clinical or technical standpoint.
Season 5 filmed in Vancouver in August–September 2010 and began airing in November 2010. The format appears to have changed, with three stories per episode, instead of one. The Discovery Health airings moved (along with many other Discovery Health shows) to Discovery Fit & Health when OWN replaced Discovery Health in January 2011; however, as of February 2011, select reruns are also appearing in OWN's daytime lineup.

Welcome to Cats Protection Preston Branch We are a group of volunteers who work to rescue and rehome stray and abandoned cats and kittens in the PR1 - PR7, and PR25 / PR26 postcode areas of Lancashire. Preston Branch has seventeen volunteer fosterers and 27 foster pens. Because of the huge demand for spaces, we have to use a waiting list system for cats needing our help. Every time we rehome a cat, we have another one waiting for that place. We are always full to capacity. Whenever a cat is adopted from us, the new owner has the satisfaction of knowing that they have helped that cat, and the next cat in that pen. Please support us by attending our events (http://www.cats.org.uk/preston/events) or volunteering a few hours of your time (http://www.cats.org.uk/preston/volunteering). All...
