Child poverty refers to the phenomenon of children living in poverty. This applies to children that come from poor families or orphans being raised with limited, or in some cases absent, state resources. Children that fail to meet the minimum acceptable standard of living for the nation where that child lives are said to be poor. In developing countries, these standards are lower and when combined with the increased number of orphans the effects are more extreme.
The legal definition of children in most countries is 'people under the age of eighteen', while biologically the transition from childhood to adulthood is said to occur with the onset of puberty. Culturally defining the end of childhood is more complex, and takes into account factors such as the commencement of work, end of schooling and marriage as well as class, gender and race. According to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) "children living in poverty are those who experience deprivation of the material, spiritual and emotional resources needed to survive, develop and thrive, leaving them unable to enjoy their rights, achieve their full potential or participate as full and equal members of society". The ChildFund International (CFI) definition is based on Deprivation (lack of materialistic conditions and services), Exclusion (denial of rights and safety) and Vulnerability (when society can not deal with threats to children). Other charitable organisations also use this multi-dimensional approach to child poverty, defining it as a combination of economic, social, cultural, physical, environmental and emotional factors. These definitions suggest child poverty is multidimensional, relative to their current and changing living conditions and complex interactions of the body, mind and emotions are involved.
Real Stories is an Australian satirical television comedy series produced by Carlton Television for Network Ten. It was created by Hamish Blake and Andy Lee. The series was first broadcast on 22 August 2006.
Eight episodes were produced. The program was a parody of current affairs shows. It was hosted by Jennifer Adams, a former Seven Network reporter. The show mimicked a standard current affairs format. Pre-recorded segments in the show were introduced by the host. These segments starred Hamish Blake, Andy Lee, Ryan Shelton, and Tim Bartley with voice-overs provided by Greg Fleet.
The show originally started as a project for Melbourne's Channel 31, a community access television station, as a collaboration between Roving Enterprises and Hamish & Andy's production company, Radio Karate. There are no plans to continue production of the show. It was repeated during 2007, and is currently available on DVD. Several podcasts were produced, including material not broadcast in the series.

Mystery meat navigation (also known as MMN) is a disparaging term coined in 1998 by Vincent Flanders, author and designer of the website Web Pages That Suck, to describe a web page where the destination of the link is not visible until the user points their cursor at it. Such interfaces lack a user-centered design, emphasizing aesthetic appearance, white space, and the concealment of relevant information over basic practicality and functionality.
The epithet "mystery meat" refers to the meat products often served in American public school cafeterias whose forms have been so thoroughly reprocessed that their exact types can no longer be identified by their appearances: like them, the methods of MMN are clear to the producer but baffling to the consumer.
Flanders originally and temporarily described the phenomenon as Saturnic navigation in reference to the Saturn Corporation, whose company website epitomized this phenomenon. Flanders writes, "The typical form of MMN is represented by menus composed of unrevealing icons that are replaced with explicative text only when the mouse cursor hovers over them".

It is a frightening fact that in today’s affluent Britain almost one in three children live in poverty. Their childhood has been stolen: they are denied a childhood free of adult cares and worries. Poverty and lack of social support forces them to make adult decisions and bear adult responsibilities long before they should. Children born into poverty, many into unemployed and broken families, are instantly disadvantaged. Living in run-down areas they quickly become socially excluded, and a high percentage will be excluded from school, too. Uneducated, bored and often miserable it is not uncommon for them to turn to crime. It’s often for kicks, but for many it becomes a way of life. Want to watch more full-length Documentaries? A two-year-old boy was rescued from the streets of Nigeria. He was kicked out of his home after his family accused of him of being a witch. For eight months, the toddler wandered the streets alone, surviving on scraps. The emaciated child, whose stomach was riddled with worms, was found by Danish aid worker Anja Ringgren Lovén, who offered him biscuits to eat and fed him bottled water. Her act of kindness was captured on camera and that image has circulated on social media and news sites around the world. Anja then wrapped the frail child, who she’s called Hope, in a blanket and took him to the nearest hospital. After a blood transfusion and treatment to get rid of the worms, Anja brought him into the African Children’s Aid Education and Development Foundation – a safe house for children s...

A view of the child poverty crisis in New Zealand. This documentary shows the reality of what it is like for children facing poverty in New Zealand. It compares the way that Sweden's system to the one of New Zealand's.
You would think that child poverty in 21 century and in a so-called advanced society is all but eradicated. But with Britain's involvement in wars overseas and spending billions of Pounds on military and weapons, the social welfare and services are taking a big hit. Children bear the brunt of the austerity measures and cuts. Some families even have to choose whether to heat their homes or to eat. With a faulty education these children's future is bleak at best and they have little chance of lifting themselves out of poverty. Massive Child poverty in Britain is considered an undeniable scandal that could worsen by many folds unless the government alters its course of action and its priorities. PRESS TV Documentaries
