The city of Saskatoon is Saskatchewan's river city, developed around the shores of the South Saskatchewan River. Currently, the largest city in Saskatchewan, Saskatoon has become a cultural hub with many theaters, restaurants, art galleries, music venues and historic buildings calling it home. Among these include The Roxy Theatre, one of the last 3 active atmospheric-theatres in Canada. Many of Saskatoon's restaurants place high among Canada's best dining, such as Weczeria Food & Wine, Duck Duck Goose and Prairie Harvest Café. Along with amazing food and theatre, the city offers beautiful scenery and some amazing running and biking trails along the river.
Saskatoon is also known as "The City of Bridges", now with 5 functional bridges connecting the riverbanks. The numerous bridges offers ease of access regardless of where in the city you are, as well as a breath-taking view.
In Saskatoon's downtown core, you can find many business establishments, restaurants, shopping, and most notably; The Bessborough Hotel. Also known as the castle on the river, The Besseborough is often an iconic structure in photos of Saskatoon, and helps to set the tone for surrounding parks, hotels and architecture.
Growing at a rapid rate, the city has developed several new neighborhoods in the past few years. Stonebridge, Evergreen, Willowgrove, Hampton Village, Rosewood & Blairmore being among a few. Each new development is complete with nearby schools, parks, grocery stores, gas stations and restaurants, allowing for access to all amenities.
While these new neighborhoods go up, the older neighborhoods in the city are becoming the focus for infill projects, and are home to many of Saskatoon's cultural, dining and shopping hot spots. Some of these neighborhoods include the beautiful Broadway, Nutana, City Park and Riversdale area.
Not being shy with year-round events, the city brings to life some of the best music and cultural festivals in the province. Offering something for all ages, some of Saskatoon's annual festivals include Potash Corp Fringe Festival, Folkfest, Jazz Fest, The Children's Festival & Winter Shines. Hey guys. Here is some footage I took While out and about in Saskatoon, Sk with the drone.
There are 2-3 clips from Pike Lake and Stony Rapids
I used a Dji Phantom 2 and Go Pro Hero 4.
Used go pro Hero 4 Black and shot at 2.7k at 30f
Dji Phantom with the 3 axis gimbal stabilizer.
I used no other effect to stabilize the footage. Only Slowed it down and colour corrected.

Saskatoon, in Saskatchewan Canada, is a city that caught me by surprise. I knew the surrounding region is considered the breadbasket of Canada, so I expected the prairie capitol surrounded by farmland to be a bit provincial. So I was beyond excited to discover I was wrong. With the South Saskatchewan River running through it, the downtown core and surrounding neighborhoods are delightfully trendy, buzzing with restaurants, breweries and distilleries that stay busy into the night come summer, when daylight stretches on for some 18-hours. And when the sun does set, the waterfront trails that run for some 50-miles along the banks of the river are great places to take advantage of the spectacular sunsets, which paint the color a rainbow of saturated colors. And Saskatoon is also home to plenty of culture with festivals like MoSoFest bringing bands to seven different venues around the city and the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival, the second largest (after Vancouver) in Western Canada, also attracting sizeable crowds. Saskatoon is also a city easy to explore by foot, which means unless you plan heading further North to places like Prince Albert National Park, walking could suit you just fine. But best of all, I loved the people, who are unquestionably friendly and prideful to call this spirited prairieland home.

Saskatoon
Saskatoon is a city in central Saskatchewan, Canada, on the South Saskatchewan River. Residents of the city of Saskatoon are called Saskatonians. The city is surrounded by the Rural Municipality of Corman Park No. 344. In December 2014 it was the largest city in the province with an estimated population at that time of 257,300 and an estimated metropolitan area population of 305,000.
Etymology
The name Saskatoon [in Cree: sâskwatôn, "Saskatoon" or the locatives: misâskwatôminihk, lit: "at the saskatoon berry", misâskwatôminiskâhk, "at the place of many saskatoon berries", mînisihk "at the berry"] comes from the Cree inanimate noun misâskwatômina "saskatoon berries", which refers to the sweet, violet-coloured berry that grows in the area. It is also popularly described as the "Bridge City", for its 8 river crossings.
History
In 1882, the Toronto-based Temperance Colonization Society was granted 21 sections of land straddling the South Saskatchewan River, between what is now Warman and Dundurn. The aim of the group was to escape the liquor trade in that city and set up a "dry" community in the Prairie region. The following year settlers, led by John Neilson Lake, arrived on the site of what is now Saskatoon and established the first permanent settlement. The settlers travelled by railway from Ontario to Moose Jaw and then completed the final leg via horse-drawn cart as the railway had yet to be completed to Saskatoon.

Saskatoon Through a Drone. Part 1
Hey guys. Here is some footage I took While out and about in Saskatoon, Sk with the drone. There are 2-3 clips from Pike Lake and Stony Rapids I used a Dji Phantom 2 and Go Pro Hero 4. Used go pro Hero 4 Black and shot at 2.7k at 30f Dji Phantom with the 3 axis gimbal stabilizer. I used no other effect to stabilize the footage. Only Slowed it down and colour corrected. 1 new Video on Tuesdays 1 Vlog on Wednesdays. Crews work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to plow and sand roads based on weather conditions, safety considerations, and the priority of the roadway. Watch for information on the work underway during and immediately following a major snow event. And "snow" what to do to keep your sidewalk safe.

Why Saskatoon Is a City that Caught Me By Surprise
Saskatoon, in Saskatchewan Canada, is a city that caught me by surprise. I knew the surrounding region is considered the breadbasket of Canada, so I expected the prairie capitol surrounded by farmland to be a bit provincial. So I was beyond excited to discover I was wrong. With the South Saskatchewan River running through it, the downtown core and surrounding neighborhoods are delightfully trendy, buzzing with restaurants, breweries and distilleries that stay busy into the night come summer, when daylight stretches on for some 18-hours. And when the sun does set, the waterfront trails that run for some 50-miles along the banks of the river are great places to take advantage of the spectacular sunsets, which paint the color a rainbow of saturated colors. Crews work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to plow and sand roads based on weather conditions, safety considerations, and the priority of the roadway. Watch for information on the work underway during and immediately following a major snow event. And "snow" what to do to keep your sidewalk safe.

Saskatoon, in Saskatchewan Canada, is a city that caught me by surprise. I knew the surrounding region is considered the breadbasket of Canada, so I expected the prairie capitol surrounded by farmland to be a bit provincial. So I was beyond excited to discover I was wrong. With the South Saskatchewan River running through it, the downtown core and surrounding neighborhoods are delightfully trendy, buzzing with restaurants, breweries and distilleries that stay busy into the night come summer, when daylight stretches on for some 18-hours. And when the sun does set, the waterfront trails that run for some 50-miles along the banks of the river are great places to take advantage of the spectacular sunsets, which paint the color a rainbow of saturated colors. And Saskatoon is also home to plenty of culture with festivals like MoSoFest bringing bands to seven different venues around the city and the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival, the second largest (after Vancouver) in Western Canada, also attracting sizeable crowds. Saskatoon is also a city easy to explore by foot, which means unless you plan heading further North to places like Prince Albert National Park, walking could suit you just fine. But best of all, I loved the people, who are unquestionably friendly and prideful to call this spirited prairieland home.

Saskatoon, in Saskatchewan Canada, is a city that caught me by surprise. I knew the surrounding region is considered the breadbasket of Canada, so I expected the prairie capitol surrounded by farmland to be a bit provincial. So I was beyond excited to discover I was wrong. With the South Saskatchewan River running through it, the downtown core and surrounding neighborhoods are delightfully trendy, buzzing with restaurants, breweries and distilleries that stay busy into the night come summer, when daylight stretches on for some 18-hours. And when the sun does set, the waterfront trails that run for some 50-miles along the banks of the river are great places to take advantage of the spectacular sunsets, which paint the color a rainbow of saturated colors. And Saskatoon is also home to plenty of culture with festivals like MoSoFest bringing bands to seven different venues around the city and the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival, the second largest (after Vancouver) in Western Canada, also attracting sizeable crowds. Saskatoon is also a city easy to explore by foot, which means unless you plan heading further North to places like Prince Albert National Park, walking could suit you just fine. But best of all, I loved the people, who are unquestionably friendly and prideful to call this spirited prairieland home.
