Das österreichische Unternehmen Siemens gibt es seit 135 Jahren, zählt zu den führenden Technologieunternehmen des Landes und beschäftigt mehr als 10.000 Menschen. ATV Die Reportage blickt hinter die Kulissen des Konzerns und gibt Einblicke, wo überall die Technologie des österreichischen Unternehmens drin steckt.
Im Siemenswerk in Simmering werden die Waggons der ÖBB-Züge endgefertigt. Die neuen Waggons werden in Wien einem besonderen Härtetest unterzogen. Denn bevor die Produkte ausgeliefert werden, geht es noch in den Klima-Wind-Kanal, die Züge müssen extreme Hitze und Kälte aushalten können.
Siemens spielt auch bei der Stromversorgung eine wichtige Rolle. Im Werk im steirischen Weiz werden Transformatoren hergestellt, die auf der ganzen Welt gefragt sind. Für die Fußball-Weltmeisterschaft in Katar im Jahr 2022 wird Siemens 44 Stück Leistungstransformatoren ausliefern. Die riesigen Trafos werden von Weiz mittels Zug und Schiff zu den jeweiligen Kunden geliefert. Für die Mitarbeiter, die so einen Sondertransport mit einem riesengroßen Trafo durch Österreich begleiten, ist die Reise jedes Mal eine Nervenbelastung und Millimeter-Arbeit. Denn viele Tunnel in Österreich sind klein und eng, im Schritt-Tempo wird der Trafo vorsichtig durch das Land bewegt.
Die Technologie von Siemens steckt auch im Festspielhaus in Salzburg. Damit die Gäste beim Besuch der Vorführungen nicht ins Schwitzen kommen, wird die gesamte Klimaanlage vollautomatisch mit Hilfe der Siemens-Gebäude-Technologie gesteuert. Die Systeme reichen von Videokontrolle über Brandschutzlösungen bis hin zu Heizungs-, Lüftungs- und Klimaregelung. Die Anforderungen an das Raumklima in einem Festspielhaus sind sehr vielschichtig: Neben dem Komfort für die Besucher müssen Raumtemperatur und Luftfeuchtigkeit genau reguliert werden - auch um das Klangbild zu optimieren. Vollautomatisierte Lüftungsanlagen, die in den Stühlen im Saal versteckt sind, bringen die konditionierte Frischluft geräuschlos in die Säle. Mehr als 6.000 Datenpunkte, wie beispielsweise Feuchtesensoren oder Alarmmelder, sind mit dem System gekoppelt und sorgen dafür, dass die Gäste die Festspiele in angenehmer Atmosphäre genießen können.

Siemens & Halske was founded by Werner von Siemens and Johann Georg Halske on 12 October 1847. Based on the telegraph, his invention used a needle to point to the sequence of letters, instead of using Morse code. The company, then called Telegraphen-Bauanstalt von Siemens & Halske, opened its first workshop on October 12.

In December 2014 we teamed up with Heimat Hamburg and giraffentoast to bring to life the interactive brand identity film for Siemens Home Appliances. A spatial installation with a theatrical stage utilising the latest anamorphic 3d mapping technology and a clever camera tracking system, that could transform into very believable ever changing worlds, visible only for one spectator: The camera. It was quite important that this vast amount of technology in use would be there to serve the user, instead of having him follow the technology, ensuring that the concept aligned with the core philosophy of Siemens Home Appliances, that building a product should make the life easier and free time for the important things in life. ATV Die Reportage blickt hinter die Kulissen des Konzerns und gibt Einblicke, wo überall die Technologie des österreichischen Unternehmens drin steckt.
Im Siemenswerk in Simmering werden die Waggons der ÖBB-Züge endgefertigt. Die neuen Waggons werden in Wien einem besonderen Härtetest unterzogen. Denn bevor die Produkte ausgeliefert werden, geht es noch in den Klima-Wind-Kanal, die Züge müssen extreme Hitze und Kälte aushalten können.
Siemens spielt auch bei der Stromversorgung eine wichtige Rolle. Im Werk im steirischen Weiz werden Transformatoren hergestellt, die auf der ganzen Welt gefragt sind. Für die Fußball-Weltmeisterschaft in Katar im Jahr 2022 wird Siemens 44 Stück Leistungstransformatoren ausliefern. Die riesigen Trafos werden von Weiz mittels Zug und Schiff zu den jeweiligen Kunden geliefert. Für die Mitarbeiter, die so einen Sondertransport mit einem riesengroßen Trafo durch Österreich begleiten, ist die Reise jedes Mal eine Nervenbelastung und Millimeter-Arbeit. Denn viele Tunnel in Österreich sind klein und eng, im Schritt-Tempo wird der Trafo vorsichtig durch das Land bewegt.
Die Technologie von Siemens steckt auch im Festspielhaus in Salzburg. Damit die Gäste beim Besuch der Vorführungen nicht ins Schwitzen kommen, wird die gesamte Klimaanlage vollautomatisch mit Hilfe der Siemens-Gebäude-Technologie gesteuert. Die Systeme reichen von Videokontrolle über Brandschutzlösungen bis hin zu Heizungs-, Lüftungs- und Klimaregelung. Die Anforderungen an das Raumklima in einem Festspielhaus sind sehr vielschichtig: Neben dem Komfort für die Besucher müssen Raumtemperatur und Luftfeuchtigkeit genau reguliert werden - auch um das Klangbild zu optimieren. Vollautomatisierte Lüftungsanlagen, die in den Stühlen im Saal versteckt sind, bringen die konditionierte Frischluft geräuschlos in die Säle. A spatial installation with a theatrical stage utilising the latest anamorphic 3d mapping technology and a clever camera tracking system, that could transform into very believable ever changing worlds, visible only for one spectator: The camera. It was quite important that this vast amount of technology in use would be there to serve the user, instead of having him follow the technology, ensuring that the concept aligned with the core philosophy of Siemens Home Appliances, that building a product should make the life easier and free time for the important things in life. The result is an innovative and experimental brand identity film showcasing technological excellence, staying true to the idea that the medium is the message.

Squint/Opera has recently completed an ambitious and broad ranging set of interactive exhibits for the new, high-profile Crystal building opened by Siemens in London’s Royal Victoria Docks. The Crystal was founded as an independent global hub for debate around crucial issues of sustainable urbanism and is home to Our Urban Future, the world’s largest exhibition dedicated to the future of cities.
We delivered a complex set of interactives to communicate challenging issues ranging from services infrastructure and density to fire safety, in a visually engaging way. Our creative solutions ranged from fun simulation games targeting very specific engineering challenges to generative installations which are more ambient in their interpretation of city data.
Squint/Opera created a representation of the new building on a whole new 3D navigational platform. This new type of touch screen experience helps visitors understand what makes the Crystal so ambitiously – and successfully sustainable through feature led hot-spots.

Before Ribéry, Martinez and Müller took time for autographs, they surprised guests of the Siemens summer party with some photobombing. As individuals went into a photo booth that was constructed to look like the German champions’ dressing room, the players crept up from behind and got in the photo. Afterwards the Bayern pros went on to the Siemens summer party at Siemens HQ.

The trade fair presentation’s key theme is ‘Integrated Systems Intelligence’: unexpected stagings and interactive exhibits display innovations and futuristic visions of the Siemens Connectivity World. The concept puts real product experience in the limelight, showing technology in the service of humans. In December 2014 we teamed up with Heimat Hamburg and giraffentoast to bring to life the interactive brand identity film for Siemens Home Appliances. A spatial installation with a theatrical stage utilising the latest anamorphic 3d mapping technology and a clever camera tracking system, that could transform into very believable ever changing worlds, visible only for one spectator: The camera. It was quite important that this vast amount of technology in use would be there to serve the user, instead of having him follow the technology, ensuring that the concept aligned with the core philosophy of Siemens Home Appliances, that building a product should make the life easier and free time for the important things in life. Denn viele Tunnel in Österreich sind klein und eng, im Schritt-Tempo wird der Trafo vorsichtig durch das Land bewegt.
Die Technologie von Siemens steckt auch im Festspielhaus in Salzburg. Damit die Gäste beim Besuch der Vorführungen nicht ins Schwitzen kommen, wird die gesamte Klimaanlage vollautomatisch mit Hilfe der Siemens-Gebäude-Technologie gesteuert. Die Systeme reichen von Videokontrolle über Brandschutzlösungen bis hin zu Heizungs-, Lüftungs- und Klimaregelung. Die Anforderungen an das Raumklima in einem Festspielhaus sind sehr vielschichtig: Neben dem Komfort für die Besucher müssen Raumtemperatur und Luftfeuchtigkeit genau reguliert werden - auch um das Klangbild zu optimieren. Vollautomatisierte Lüftungsanlagen, die in den Stühlen im Saal versteckt sind, bringen die konditionierte Frischluft geräuschlos in die Säle. In December 2014 we teamed up with Heimat Hamburg and giraffentoast to bring to life the interactive brand identity film for Siemens Home Appliances. A spatial installation with a theatrical stage utilising the latest anamorphic 3d mapping technology and a clever camera tracking system, that could transform into very believable ever changing worlds, visible only for one spectator: The camera. It was quite important that this vast amount of technology in use would be there to serve the user, instead of having him follow the technology, ensuring that the concept aligned with the core philosophy of Siemens Home Appliances, that building a product should make the life easier and free time for the important things in life. The result is an innovative and experimental brand identity film showcasing technological excellence, staying true to the idea that the medium is the message.

Squint/Opera has recently completed an ambitious and broad ranging set of interactive exhibits for the new, high-profile Crystal building opened by Siemens in London’s Royal Victoria Docks. The Crystal was founded as an independent global hub for debate around crucial issues of sustainable urbanism and is home to Our Urban Future, the world’s largest exhibition dedicated to the future of cities.
We delivered a complex set of interactives to communicate challenging issues ranging from services infrastructure and density to fire safety, in a visually engaging way. Our creative solutions ranged from fun simulation games targeting very specific engineering challenges to generative installations which are more ambient in their interpretation of city data.
Squint/Opera created a representation of the new building on a whole new 3D navigational platform. This new type of touch screen experience helps visitors understand what makes the Crystal so ambitiously – and successfully sustainable through feature led hot-spots.

Im Siemenswerk in Simmering werden die Waggons der ÖBB-Züge endgefertigt. Die neuen Waggons werden in Wien einem besonderen Härtetest unterzogen. Denn bevor die Produkte ausgeliefert werden, geht es noch in den Klima-Wind-Kanal, die Züge müssen extreme Hitze und Kälte aushalten können.

Für die Fußball-Weltmeisterschaft in Katar im Jahr 2022 wird Siemens 44 Stück Leistungstransformatoren ausliefern. Die riesigen Trafos werden von Weiz mittels Zug und Schiff zu den jeweiligen Kunden geliefert. Für die Mitarbeiter, die so einen Sondertransport mit einem riesengroßen Trafo durch Österreich begleiten, ist die Reise jedes Mal eine Nervenbelastung und Millimeter-Arbeit. Denn viele Tunnel in Österreich sind klein und eng, im Schritt-Tempo wird der Trafo vorsichtig durch das Land bewegt.
Die Technologie von Siemens steckt auch im Festspielhaus in Salzburg. Damit die Gäste beim Besuch der Vorführungen nicht ins Schwitzen kommen, wird die gesamte Klimaanlage vollautomatisch mit Hilfe der Siemens-Gebäude-Technologie gesteuert. Die Systeme reichen von Videokontrolle über Brandschutzlösungen bis hin zu Heizungs-, Lüftungs- und Klimaregelung. Die Anforderungen an das Raumklima in einem Festspielhaus sind sehr vielschichtig: Neben dem Komfort für die Besucher müssen Raumtemperatur und Luftfeuchtigkeit genau reguliert werden - auch um das Klangbild zu optimieren. Vollautomatisierte Lüftungsanlagen, die in den Stühlen im Saal versteckt sind, bringen die konditionierte Frischluft geräuschlos in die Säle. Mehr als 6.000 Datenpunkte, wie beispielsweise Feuchtesensoren oder Alarmmelder, sind mit dem System gekoppelt und sorgen dafür, dass die Gäste die Festspiele in angenehmer Atmosphäre genießen können.

Η εκπομπή ανοίγει το φάκελο του πρώτου σκανδάλου της Siemens στην Ελλάδα, που συντάραξε τη δεκαετία του '50 την πολιτική ζωή του τόπου και προσπαθεί να απαντήσει στο ερώτημα γιατί οι μεταπολεμικές κυβερνήσεις δε μπόρεσαν να εισπράξουν τα χρήματα που αναγκαστικά δανείσαμε στους Γερμανούς την περίοδο της κατοχής.
Η Ελλάδα μετά το Δεύτερο Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο και τον εμφύλιο, ήταν κατεστραμμένη και διχασμένη. Η Γερμανία, αν και δεν είχε αποζημιώσει τους Έλληνες, εμφανιζόταν έτοιμη για επενδύσεις. Η κυβέρνηση Παπάγου αποδέχθηκε την πρόσκληση και άνοιξε την πόρτα για συνεργασία.
Τότε έκανε την εμφάνισή της η Siemens και «έσκασε» το πρώτο μεγάλο σκάνδαλο στο οποίο εμπλεκόταν ο υπερυπουργός Μαρκεζίνης και οι εσωκομματικοί του αντίπαλοι. Ο μέχρι πρότινος στενός συνεργάτης του πρωθυπουργού Παπάγου είχε αναλάβει για λογαριασμό της κυβέρνησης τις διαπραγματεύσεις με το γερμανικό κολοσσό και μυστηριωδώς παραιτήθηκε πριν υπογραφεί η σύμβαση. Τότε η Siemens έδωσε στη δημοσιότητα τη «μυστική» αλληλογραφία με τον υπουργό, ο οποίος εφέρετο να έχει δεσμευτεί ώστε να δώσει τη δουλειά στη γερμανική εταιρία χωρίς διαγωνισμό. Η υπόθεση περιπλέχθηκε όταν ο Έλληνας εκπρόσωπος της Siemens κατηγόρησε για μίζες στενό συνεργάτη του Κ. Καραμανλή, ο οποίος ως υπουργός συγκοινωνιών είχε καταγγείλει τη συμφωνία ως σκανδαλώδη. Το θέμα έφτασε στα δικαστήρια και δικαίωσε το Σερραίο πολιτικό, ο οποίος κατάφερε να ξεπεράσει τη συκοφαντία των Γερμανών και μετά τον αιφνίδιο θάνατο του Παπάγου να γίνει πρωθυπουργός.
Το θρίλερ των Ελληνο-γερμανικών σχέσεων κορυφώνεται με την υπογραφή συμφωνίας Καραμανλή -- Αντενάουερ το 1958. Η «Μηχανή του Χρόνου» αποκαλύπτει ότι πίσω από την εμπορική συμφωνία υπήρξαν συμβιβασμοί και παραχωρήσεις, που έφτασαν έως την αμνήστευση των ναζί εγκληματιών στην Ελλάδα. Ωστόσο δεν υπήρξε κανενός είδους γραπτή δέσμευση ότι παραιτούμαστε από τη διεκδίκηση των οφειλομένων από το περίφημο κατοχικό δάνειο.
