North Cottesloe Beach has been closed by WA Police after a military object was found washed up on the shore on Sunday afternoon.
A police spokesman said a member of the public came across the item while walking their dog.
It is believed to be a military flare, and was labelled 'don't touch, call police or military'.
Police are currently on scene and the beach remains closed.
