"San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)" is a song, written by John Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas, and sung by Scott McKenzie. It was written and released in June 1967 to promote the Monterey Pop Festival.
McKenzie's song became an instant hit. The lyrics tell the listeners, "If you're going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair". Due to the difference between the lyrics and the actual title, the title is often quoted as "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair)". "San Francisco" reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, and was number one in the United Kingdom and most of Europe. The single is purported to have sold over 5 million copies worldwide. The song is credited with bringing thousands of young people to San Francisco, California during the late 1960s.[citation needed]

Repeated episodes of dizziness made my doctor decide that I was suffering from benign paroxysmal positional vertigo:
a constant spinning sensation and sudden visual disturbances towards nearby moving objects.
'San Francisco' video clip captures the kaleidoscopic and blurring world that I was forced to inhabit the week just before shooting it. Up went down, straight flowed curved and rectangles melt oblique. My magnifying eye got lost in the labyrinth of my inner ear.

Golden Gate
The Golden Gate is the North American strait that connects San Francisco Bay to the Pacific Ocean. It is defined by the headlands of the San Francisco Peninsula and the Marin Peninsula, and, since 1937, has been spanned by the Golden Gate Bridge.
Geology
During the last Ice Age, when sea level was several hundred feet lower, the waters of the glacier-fed Sacramento River and the San Joaquin River scoured a deep channel through the bedrock on their way to the ocean. The strait is well known today for its depth and powerful tidal currents from the Pacific Ocean. Many small whirlpools and eddies can form in its waters. With its strong currents, rocky reefs and fog, the Golden Gate is the site of over 100 shipwrecks.
Climate
The Golden Gate is often shrouded in fog, especially during the summer. Heat generated in the California Central Valley causes air there to rise, creating a low pressure area that pulls in cool, moist air from over the Pacific Ocean. The Golden Gate forms the largest break in the hills of the California Coast Range, allowing a persistent, dense stream of fog to enter the bay there.

Scott McKenzie
Scott McKenzie (born Philip Wallach Blondheim, January 10, 1939 – August 18, 2012) was an American singer and songwriter. He was best known for his 1967 hit single and generational anthem, "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)".
Life and career
Philip Wallach Blondheim was born in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1939. His family moved to Asheville, North Carolina, when he was six months old. He grew up in North Carolina and Virginia, where he became friends with the son of one of his mother's friends, John Phillips. In the mid-1950s, he sang briefly with Tim Rose in a high school group called The Singing Strings, and later with Phillips, Mike Boran, and Bill Cleary formed a doo wop band, The Abstracts.
In New York, The Abstracts became The Smoothies and recorded two singles with Decca Records, produced by Milt Gabler. During his time with The Smoothies, Blondheim decided to change his name for business reasons:
In 1961 Phillips and McKenzie met Dick Weissman and formed the folk group, The Journeymen, at the height of the folk music craze. They recorded three albums and seven singles for Capitol Records. After The Beatles became popular in 1964, The Journeymen disbanded. McKenzie and Weissman became solo performers, while Phillips formed the group The Mamas & the Papas with Denny Doherty, Cass Elliot, and Michelle Phillips and moved to California.

After taking the images into color I saw a 180° difference in the images. The raw files were cold and dark and I was able to get so much amazing vibrance out of them. -

Repeated episodes of dizziness made my doctor decide that I was suffering from benign paroxysmal positional vertigo: a constant spinning sensation and sudden visual disturbances towards nearby moving objects. 'San Francisco' video clip captures the kaleidoscopic and blurring world that I was forced to inhabit the week just before shooting it. Up went down, straight flowed curved and rectangles melt oblique. My magnifying eye got lost in the labyrinth of my inner ear. -

Don’t stand directly behind a cable car gripman; you’ll get the wind knocked out of you when he jerks back on the brake lever.
Don’t send for an ambulance if you hear a chorus of moans, groans, grunts and wails, it’s the foghorns.
Don’t carry a milk pail to Cow Hollow; the old dairy district west of Van Ness Avenue has become a popular shopping sector.
Don’t call cable cars trolleys; they’re powered by the moving steel cable you hear humming in the slot beneath your feet.
Don’t plan to go swimming in San Francisco Bay unless you’re a member in good standing of the Polar Bear Club.
Don’t board a public conveyance without exact fare; the drivers don’t make change.
Don’t be caught without an umbrella; the coastal mists are capricious.

The raw capabilities of the Red are fantastic! After taking the images into color I saw a 180° difference in the images. The raw files were cold and dark and I was able to get so much amazing vibrance out of them.

a constant spinning sensation and sudden visual disturbances towards nearby moving objects.
'San Francisco' video clip captures the kaleidoscopic and blurring world that I was forced to inhabit the week just before shooting it. Up went down, straight flowed curved and rectangles melt oblique. My magnifying eye got lost in the labyrinth of my inner ear.

Public art commission for 350 Mission Building in City of San Francisco, California.
‘Virtual Depictions:San Francisco’ is a public art project by media artist Refik Anadol consist of series of parametric data sculptures that tell the story of the city and people around us within a unique artistic approach for 350 Mission’s media wall in collaboration with Kilroy Realty Corporation / John Kilroy and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP Architects.
The main idea of ‘Virtual Depictions:San Francisco’ is to bring 21st century approach to public art to define new poetics of space through media arts and architecture and to create a unique parametric data sculptures that has an intelligence, memory and culture. Through architectural transformations of media wall located in 350 Mission’ lobby, home of Salesforce, main motivation with this seminal media architecture approach is to frame this experience with a meticulously abstract and cinematic site-specific data-driven narration. As a result, this media wall turns into a spectacular public event making direct and phantasmagorical connections to its surroundings through simultaneous juxtapositions. The project also intends to contribute to contemporary discourse of public art by proposing a hybrid blend of media arts and architecture in 21st century.
When creating this public artwork my goal was to make the invisible visible by embedding media arts into architecture to create a new way to experience a living urban space.

On a dark, drizzly day in the San Francisco Bay Area, Petrolicious caught up with Ivan Jaramillo, the owner of not just one, but two Skylines: the Hakosuka and the Kenmeri. With epic histories, straight sixes and little effort, both cars roared through redwood groves and past horse ranches on Lucas Valley Road before posing for their close ups along the bay. In this feature interview, Ivan passionately describes his love of Japanese automobiles and more specifically the Hakosuka and the Kenmeri.

Alcatraz is an island to 2 km and 400 meters from the mainland, located in the San Francisco Bay. If you wish to visit this surreal island that houses the maximum security prison most famous of all the United States and perhaps the world, it is good to book the tour in advance. Prison is impressive at any time of the day, but to see at night is definitely the top. The departure of the ferry is at Pier 33. In this San Francisco travel video guide, I travel to San Francisco, California, one of the most scenic cities in the United States, if not the world.
In town for a conference for only four days, only one of which was going to be sunny, I headed out to see as much as I could in a day. I started my day by visiting the Haight-Ashbury district, San Francisco's most famous neighborhood. Ground zero for the Summer of Love, this neighborhood's bohemian past is still evident as you walk around the area, though things have changed quite a bit.
Next I headed to the Mission District, San Francisco's "It" neighborhood right now. Home to a large and varied immigrant population, cheap rents have lured many a young and hip individual to the area, evidenced by the artisanal chocolate shops, used book stores and proliferation of coffee shops. There are also great taco shops here. I visit Taqueria Cancun and El Toro to see which I liked best.
Then I hopped on a boat to get a unique view of the San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge, which we sailed under, then traveled past Alcatraz Island and Angel Island.
Wrapping things up, I walked through the Presidio for a pilgrimage to Lucasfilm, complete with a Yoda fountain, then hiked one of the Presidio's many trails to get a great view as the sun set over the bay.

It is difficult to believe that this lively, cosmopolitan city is under constant threat from earthquake, the only rumble being that of the famous cable cars as they vie up and down the city's hilly roads.
A boat trip is a great way to see Fisherman's Wharf, various maritime museums, the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz, former home of Robert 'The Birdman' Stroud, Machine Gun Kelly and Al Capone.
Built in 1776, San Francisco's first stone building, Mission Dolores, still stands today. Led by the Franciscan Padres, the Christianized Indians built a church, in the cemetery of which many of the city's original settlers were laid to rest.
The Transamerica Pyramid has become the city's most famous landmark. Earthquake proof, having been built on hydraulic spring foundations, the 260 metre high pyramid structure is situated in the heart of the Financial District.
Located between three hills, San Francisco's Chinatown is the largest Chinese settlement outside Asia with pagodas, colorful bunting, decorated balconies and Chinese characters combining with the sounds and exotic aromas of this fascinating area.
The Painted Ladies are charming Victorian wooden houses situated on the fringe of Alamo Square and the Haas-Lilienthal House is a well-maintained jewel of a bygone era.
In San Francisco, history and modernity combine and give the visitor, "That California Feeling!"

The heart of downtown is Union Square, a great spot to shop, relax and watch the world go by. The Embarcadero is a busy waterfront roadway taking in some of San Francisco's most famous landmarks, including Market Street, the Bay Bridge and the San Francisco Ferry Building.
Fisherman's Wharf, at the northern end of the Embarcadero, is known for great shops and restaurants. Golden Gate Bridge and the island fortress of Alcatraz. are easy to get to from here. Nearby at Pier 39 you can enjoy the best views of San Francisco and visit the sea lion colony.
Experience the hustle and bustle of Chinatown, or head to the Haight-Ashbury district, where you'll find independent record stores, smoke shops and cafes.
Nearby Marin County is home to the ancient redwoods of Muir Woods National Monument and the relaxed bayside hamlet of Sausalito. With so much to offer, San Francisco tempts visitors back again and again.

In this travel video guide to San Francisco, I travel to San Francisco, California, one of the most scenic cities in the United States, if not the world.
In town for a conference for only four days, only one of which was going to be sunny, I headed out to see as much as I could in a day. I started my day by visiting the Haight-Ashbury district, San Francisco's most famous neighborhood. Ground zero for the Summer of Love, this neighborhood's bohemian past is still evident as you walk around the area, though things have changed quite a bit.
Next I headed to the Mission District, San Francisco's "It" neighborhood right now. Home to a large and varied immigrant population, cheap rents have lured many a young and hip individual to the area, evidenced by the artisanal chocolate shops, used book stores and proliferation of coffee shops. There are also great taco shops here. I visit Taqueria Cancun and El Toro to see which I liked best.
Then I hopped on a boat to get a unique view of the San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge, which we sailed under, then traveled past Alcatraz Island and Angel Island.
Wrapping things up, I walked through the Presidio for a pilgrimage to Lucasfilm, complete with a Yoda fountain, then hiked one of the Presidio's many trails to get a great view as the sun set over the bay.

Alcatraz is an island to 2 km and 400 meters from the mainland, located in the San Francisco Bay.
If you wish to visit this surreal island that houses the maximum security prison most famous of all the United States and perhaps the world, it is good to book the tour in advance.
Prison is impressive at any time of the day, but to see at night is definitely the top.
The departure of the ferry is at Pier 33. Our ferry leaves at 17:55, for the visit at night (booked 90 days before alcatrazcruises.com !!!).
The visit includes boat trip, a first part with a ranger who is our guide; a second individual part with audio guide in Italian and then return by boat.
Alcatraz is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, managed by the National Park Service.
Alcatraz Island (Spanish for "Sula," a seabird) bears this name because it was populated by these kinds of animals; Now the island is overrun by seagulls are everywhere.
The visit is really very impressive, the audio guide illustrates the life of the prison with the prisoners' voices and some guards that tell the key events that took place in those years, actually managing to experience the frustration of detainees, looking out could see the city, however, knowing it will not be able to reach.
When it was established, Alcatraz was just a military prison. But then, in 1934, the US government decided to transform it into a maximum security prison where he could hold the most dangerous criminals in the country.
Its strategic location in the middle of San Francisco Bay combined with the icy currents, made it soon the "home" of criminals the likes of Al Capone or the Soviet spy Morton Sobell.
Alcatraz was notorious for the harsh living conditions they were subjected detainees, locked in small individual cells often without being able to do anything but during the brief hours of air, and the two daily meals.
Alcatraz was considered a veritable fortress, no one could get out alive.
36 escape attempts only one, conducted by Frank Morris and the Anglin, he goes ahead. The two brothers left the island on a raft without being noticed by the police, putting dummies made of paper pulp in the beds of their cells. The FBI points out that there is no evidence of the actual survival of the two; Their story is dedicated to the movie Escape from Alcatraz with Clint Eastwood.
The prison was closed March 21, 1963 for the high costs of its management: it was necessary to transport the island of foodstuffs, drinking water and clothing. All criminals were transferred to other places of detention. Years later, the prison was opened to the public for guided tours

Repeated episodes of dizziness made my doctor decide that I was suffering from benign paroxysmal positional vertigo: a constant spinning sensation and sudden visual disturbances towards nearby moving objects. 'San Francisco' video clip captures the kaleidoscopic and blurring world that I was forced to inhabit the week just before shooting it. Up went down, straight flowed curved and rectangles melt oblique. My magnifying eye got lost in the labyrinth of my inner ear.

In Central Europe, young people adopted "San Francisco" as an anthem for freedom, and it was widely played during Czechoslovakia's 1968 Prague Spring uprising against Soviet rule.[citation needed]

Don’t carry a milk pail to Cow Hollow; the old dairy district west of Van Ness Avenue has become a popular shopping sector.
Don’t call cable cars trolleys; they’re powered by the moving steel cable you hear humming in the slot beneath your feet.
Don’t plan to go swimming in San Francisco Bay unless you’re a member in good standing of the Polar Bear Club.

The raw capabilities of the Red are fantastic! After taking the images into color I saw a 180° difference in the images. The raw files were cold and dark and I was able to get so much amazing vibrance out of them.

a constant spinning sensation and sudden visual disturbances towards nearby moving objects.
'San Francisco' video clip captures the kaleidoscopic and blurring world that I was forced to inhabit the week just before shooting it. Up went down, straight flowed curved and rectangles melt oblique. My magnifying eye got lost in the labyrinth of my inner ear.

Public art commission for 350 Mission Building in City of San Francisco, California.
‘Virtual Depictions:San Francisco’ is a public art project by media artist Refik Anadol consist of series of parametric data sculptures that tell the story of the city and people around us within a unique artistic approach for 350 Mission’s media wall in collaboration with Kilroy Realty Corporation / John Kilroy and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP Architects.
The main idea of ‘Virtual Depictions:San Francisco’ is to bring 21st century approach to public art to define new poetics of space through media arts and architecture and to create a unique parametric data sculptures that has an intelligence, memory and culture. Through architectural transformations of media wall located in 350 Mission’ lobby, home of Salesforce, main motivation with this seminal media architecture approach is to frame this experience with a meticulously abstract and cinematic site-specific data-driven narration. As a result, this media wall turns into a spectacular public event making direct and phantasmagorical connections to its surroundings through simultaneous juxtapositions. The project also intends to contribute to contemporary discourse of public art by proposing a hybrid blend of media arts and architecture in 21st century.
When creating this public artwork my goal was to make the invisible visible by embedding media arts into architecture to create a new way to experience a living urban space.

With epic histories, straight sixes and little effort, both cars roared through redwood groves and past horse ranches on Lucas Valley Road before posing for their close ups along the bay.
