"Shiver me timbers" (or "shiver my timbers" using the possessive pronoun) is an exclamation in the form of a mock oath usually attributed to the speech of pirates in works of fiction. It is employed as a literary device by authors to express shock, surprise or annoyance. The phrase is based on real nautical slang and is a reference to the timbers, which are the wooden support frames of a sailing ship. In heavy seas, ships would be lifted up and pounded down so hard as to "shiver" the timbers, startling the sailors. Such an exclamation was meant to convey a feeling of fear and awe, similar to, "Well, blow me down!", or, "May God strike me alive and well". Shiver is also reminiscent of the splintering of a ship's timbers in battle – splinter wounds were a common form of battle injury on wooden ships ('shiver' means splinter in some English dialects).
Although the Oxford English Dictionary says the expression "shiver my timbers" probably first appeared in a published work by Frederick Marryat called Jacob Faithful (1835), the phrase actually appeared in print as early as 1795, in a serial publication called "Tomahawk, or Censor General", which gives an "extract of a new MS tragedy called 'Opposition'." In the words of the "old sailor":
Thomas Alan Waits (born December 7, 1949) is an American singer-songwriter, composer, and actor. Waits has a distinctive voice, described by critic Daniel Durchholz as sounding like "it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months, and then taken outside and run over with a car." With this trademark growl, his incorporation of pre-rock music styles such as blues, jazz, and vaudeville, and experimental tendencies verging on industrial music, Waits has built up a distinctive musical persona. He has worked as a composer for movies and musicals and has acted in supporting roles in films, including Paradise Alley and Bram Stoker's Dracula. He also starred in Jim Jarmusch's 1986 film Down by Law. He was nominated for an Academy Award for his soundtrack work on One from the Heart.
Waits' lyrics frequently present atmospheric portraits of grotesque, often seedy characters and places—although he has also shown a penchant for more conventional ballads. He has a cult following and has influenced subsequent songwriters despite having little radio or music video support. His songs are best-known through cover versions by more commercial artists: "Jersey Girl", performed by Bruce Springsteen, "Ol' '55", by the Eagles, and "Downtown Train", by Rod Stewart. Although Waits' albums have met with mixed commercial success in his native United States, they have occasionally achieved gold album sales status in other countries. He has been nominated for a number of major music awards and has won Grammy Awards for two albums, Bone Machine and Mule Variations. In 2011, Waits was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He is also included among the 2010 list of Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Singers. and the 2015 list of Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time.
The tooth fairy is a fantasy figure of early childhood. The folklore states that when children lose one of their baby teeth, they should place it underneath their pillow and the tooth fairy will visit while they sleep, replacing the lost tooth with a small payment.
The tradition of leaving a tooth under a pillow for the tooth fairy to collect is practiced in various countries in the Anglosphere.
In early Europe, it was a tradition to bury baby teeth that fell out. When a child's sixth tooth falls out, it is a custom for parents to slip a gift or money from the tooth fairy under the child's pillow, but to leave the tooth as a reward.
In northern Europe, there was also a tradition of tand-fé or tooth fee, which was paid when a child lost its first tooth. This tradition is recorded in writings as early as the Eddas, which are the earliest written record of Norse and Northern European traditions.
The reward left varies by country, the family's economic status, amounts the child's peers report receiving and other factors. A 2013 survey by Visa Inc. found that American children receive $3.70 per tooth on average.
Shivering (also called shuddering) is a bodily function in response to early hypothermia or just feeling cold in warm-blooded animals. When the core body temperature drops, the shivering reflex is triggered to maintain homeostasis. Skeletal muscles begin to shake in small movements, creating warmth by expending energy. Shivering can also be a response to a fever, as a person may feel cold. During fever the hypothalamic set point for temperature is raised. The increased set point causes the body temperature to rise (pyrexia), but also makes the patient feel cold until the new set point is reached. Severe chills with violent shivering are called rigors. Rigors occur because the patient's body is shivering in a physiological attempt to increase body temperature to the new set point.
Located in the posterior hypothalamus near the wall of the third ventricle is an area called the primary motor center for shivering. This area is normally inhibited by signals from the heat center in the anterior hypothalamic-preoptic area but is excited by cold signals from the skin and spinal cord. Therefore, this center becomes activated when the body temperature falls even a fraction of a degree below a critical temperature level.
Treasure Island is an adventure novel by Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson, narrating a tale of "buccaneers and buried gold". It was originally serialized in the children's magazine Young Folks between 1881 and 1882 under the title Treasure Island, or the mutiny of the Hispaniola, credited to the pseudonym "Captain George North". It was first published as a book on 14 November 1883 by Cassell & Co.
Treasure Island is traditionally considered a coming-of-age story, and is noted for its atmosphere, characters, and action. It is also noted as a wry commentary on the ambiguity of morality—as seen in Long John Silver—unusual for children's literature. It is one of the most frequently dramatized of all novels. Its influence is enormous on popular perceptions of pirates, including such elements as treasure maps marked with an "X", schooners, the Black Spot, tropical islands, and one-legged seamen bearing parrots on their shoulders.
An old sailor, calling himself "the captain"—real name "Billy" Bones—comes to lodge at the Admiral Benbow Inn on the west English coast during the mid-1700s, paying the innkeeper's son, Jim Hawkins, a few pennies to keep a lookout for a one-legged "seafaring man." A seaman with intact legs shows up, frightening Billy—who drinks far too much rum—into a stroke, and Billy tells Jim that his former shipmates covet the contents of his sea chest. After a visit from yet another man, Billy has another stroke and dies; Jim and his mother (his father has also died just a few days before) unlock the sea chest, finding some money, a journal, and a map. The local physician, Dr. Livesey, deduces that the map is of an island where a deceased pirate—Captain Flint—buried a vast treasure. The district squire, Trelawney, proposes buying a ship and going after the treasure, taking Livesey as ship's doctor and Jim as cabin boy.

So, I was looking for a good quality video of this scene/music, but I couldn't find one and decided to upload it myself. If you want to go straight to the song it's at 1:07. I do not own any copyright to this. This movie and the music belongs to Walt Disney studios. I just wanted to share it.
Here the first of two songs that have been deleted from the DVD of Divine Madness.
A great song.
This is a contemplation of anime and game characters acting as pirates. This was inspired by the song "Shiver My Timbers" from Muppet Treasure Island. You might say that this is a tribute to both the anime fans who longed to see some of their favorite characters as pirates, as well as a tribute to the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean movie "At Worlds End." Anyway, I hope you enjoy it. Note: For those of you who are wondering, I don't own the song, nor any of the characters that participate in it, say for the fan characters thrown into the mix. I did not create this version of the song. It was extracted from one of the CDs I own. All credits and rights strictly go to the original creators and composers.

01.19.12. Kickin' it solo for the day at LRC. Several fun problems: - Manute Bol (v6): A great problem that feels easy once you figure out the beta ... and impossible until you do! - Genghis Khan (v5): I tried to onsight this popular problem (fail) & ended up using horrible beta. It made for a fun ride though :) - Robbing the Tooth Fairy (v9): My first of the grade - woohoo! Fun moves leading into Tooth Fairy & the whole package is pretty taxing. - Shiver Me Timbers Direct (v8): A great 2-move wonder. I thought the 1st throw was the hardest, but the 2nd would be harder if you can't reach. Easy for the grade. - Heroin (v7): What a classic!!! It took me a number of tries to figure out the motion - you can see me getting closer on each attempt :)

Well I've got a gut, gut feeling that you
Have made plans to take me home tonight
Well come on baby, come on let's ride
I doubt if you can take me
Well it's a sad way to make it right
But it's a good way to break the ice
I've never looked at you the same way ever again, no
And you're so crazy
You're keeping all my fingers so, Rock n' roll, whoa
You're the captain when we're lost at sea
Drop the anchor down, make sure no ones around
We'll ride this boat baby you and me
Baby you and me, whoa baby you and me
Well I've got a sick, sick feeling that you
Have got the urge to shake my bones tonight
We'll place your bets on me tonight
And buckle up for safety
We'll turn it out on the radio
We'll cause a motion sickness episode that we
oh we will get it on, we'll get it on, get it on, oh!
You're keeping all my fingers so, Rock n' roll, whoa
You're the captain when we're lost at sea
Drop the anchor down, make sure no ones around
We'll ride this boat baby you and me
Come on, come on, I feel it coming on
There's never been a better time to get it on
And if I die before I wake
I pray there are girls like you we'll meet another day
Come on, come on, I feel it coming on
There's never been a better time to get it on
And if I die before I wake
I pray there are girls like you we'll meet another day
You're keeping all my fingers so, Rock n' roll, whoa
You're the captain when we're lost at sea
Drop the anchor down, make sure no ones around
We'll ride this boat baby you and me
You and me, well baby you and me
