3. Abel and Cole Marvellous Meat Box: £14, Abel and Cole

This company is better known for vegetable boxes, but its meat boxes are every bit as good, thanks to the high welfare, traceable and seasonal meat. This box, which serves one to three people for seven days, changes weekly and costs only fractionally more than supermarkets, yet is so much more tender and tasty. Bigger boxes are also available.

Verdict

We didn’t have one cut of meat from these boxes that wasn’t flavoursome, so no disappointments here at all. But forced to pick two favourites, we’d go for Rhug, thanks to its unforgettable lamb, and Farmison for outstanding value.
