White
White is an achromatic color, literally a "color without hue", that is a mixture of the frequencies of all the colors of the visible spectrum. Motionless in White
Motionless in White (sometimes abbreviated MIW) are an American gothic metal/metalcore band from Scranton, Pennsylvania. Formed in 2005, the band consists of Chris "Motionless" Cerulli (lead vocals), Ricky "Horror" Olson (rhythm guitar), Devin "Ghost" Sola (bass), Ryan Sitkowski (lead guitar), Josh Balz (keyboards) and Vinny Mauro (drums). The band has stated that their band name derived from the Eighteen Visions song "Motionless and White". The group is known for their screaming vocals as well as clean.
Motionless in White is signed to Fearless Records and have released three studio albums; their most recent, Reincarnate, was released on September 15, 2014 in United Kingdom and then on September 16, 2014 worldwide.
History
Formation and early years (2005–2009)
Motionless in White was founded in 2005 by members Chris Motionless, who played guitar and lead vocals, Angelo Parente on drums, Frank Polumbo on guitar, and Kyle White on bass during high school. They incepted many other titles into the group until finally settling on what would be Motionless in White. Chris Motionless and other members have noted bands such as, Poison the Well, Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, Johnny Cash, Depeche Mode, and other musical groups as their inspiration. In 2005 they released their self-distributed demo.

Snow is particularly joyful in how it transforms everything it coversThe brightness of its white forces the iris in your eye to shut way down, and suddenly everything that isn’t snow is in silhouette or defined by shadow. The world becomes a high-contrast graphic representation of itself. This distillation of form allowed me to focus on painting pure motion in relation to the winter landscape. This film is composed of approximately 2,250 watercolor paintings on paper. It is a kind of winter companion to my film “L’Eau Life,” although here the water is frozen and therefore much easier to paint — because painting snow mostly means leaving the paper white. One of my biggest pet peeves in art is the lazily-desaturated DSLR video. “Black & White In Color” is my personal response to treating black and white as an editing afterthought. This short video is the culmination of a year and a half of experimentation with black and white textures. Please note: in some instances, color is unavoidable -- dark purples, greens, and blues separate out of black dye within a few minutes. “Black & White In Color” is the first in a pair of videos that contrast black and white with color, minimalism with maximalism. A short film about winter.
Snow is particularly joyful in how it transforms everything it coversThe brightness of its white forces the iris in your eye to shut way down, and suddenly everything that isn’t snow is in silhouette or defined by shadow. The world becomes a high-contrast graphic representation of itself. This distillation of form allowed me to focus on painting pure motion in relation to the winter landscape.
This film is composed of approximately 2,250 watercolor paintings on paper. It is a kind of winter companion to my film “L’Eau Life,” although here the water is frozen and therefore much easier to paint — because painting snow mostly means leaving the paper white.
The music is by Shay Lynch, and wonderfully captures the endless cascade of the montage while giving the film a kind of emotional elegance in spite of its vaudevillian pratfalls.This film and essay originally appeared in my blog The Animated Life in the New York Times, Opinion.

One of my biggest pet peeves in art is the lazily-desaturated DSLR video. “Black & White In Color” is my personal response to treating black and white as an editing afterthought.
This short video is the culmination of a year and a half of experimentation with black and white textures. Please note: in some instances, color is unavoidable -- dark purples, greens, and blues separate out of black dye within a few minutes.
“Black & White In Color” is the first in a pair of videos that contrast black and white with color, minimalism with maximalism. The paired video is tentatively named “Oversaturated.”
Hand-lettered titles by North Carolina calligrapher Dara Linn. Many thanks to the Triangle Calligraphers Guild.

A short film about winter.
Snow is particularly joyful in how it transforms everything it coversThe brightness of its white forces the iris in your eye to shut way down, and suddenly everything that isn’t snow is in silhouette or defined by shadow. The world becomes a high-contrast graphic representation of itself. This distillation of form allowed me to focus on painting pure motion in relation to the winter landscape.
This film is composed of approximately 2,250 watercolor paintings on paper. It is a kind of winter companion to my film “L’Eau Life,” although here the water is frozen and therefore much easier to paint — because painting snow mostly means leaving the paper white.
The music is by Shay Lynch, and wonderfully captures the endless cascade of the montage while giving the film a kind of emotional elegance in spite of its vaudevillian pratfalls.This film and essay originally appeared in my blog The Animated Life in the New York Times, Opinion.

One of my biggest pet peeves in art is the lazily-desaturated DSLR video. “Black & White In Color” is my personal response to treating black and white as an editing afterthought.
This short video is the culmination of a year and a half of experimentation with black and white textures. Please note: in some instances, color is unavoidable -- dark purples, greens, and blues separate out of black dye within a few minutes.
“Black & White In Color” is the first in a pair of videos that contrast black and white with color, minimalism with maximalism. The paired video is tentatively named “Oversaturated.”
