A university student who was bashed and had his luxury car stolen after he chased two men who crashed into it has issued a warning to other motorists, saying he regrets his decision.
South Korean 25-year-old Han Sangil escaped serious injuries after following the men from the Brisbane CBD to St Lucia on Thursday night after they slammed into his 2013 BMW Z4 outside his gym.
The University of Queensland business management student said the men, also in a BMW, were reversing at high speed in a car park at the time, about 10pm.
They drove off and he made he gave chase, following them to the university suburb.
Mr Han said he blocked the men with his car when they drove down a one-way street and crashed into his car again as they tried to get past.
"When he was trying to get out from the street he hit the tree," he said.
"Then they just came out from the car and then yeah, we were arguing at that time.
"They were trying to like hit me with these metal sticks."
One of the men got into the passenger seat of the black convertible and hit Mr Han in the shoulder with the sharp metal pole as he tried to turn the car off he said.
On Friday, after waking up with a throbbing shoulder, Mr Han said he wasn't scared until he saw a tomahawk in the men's car after they had driven off.
"Yes actually, I regret chasing them," he said.
"I saw the tomahawk in the car and I highly recommend to other people not to chase people if something happens same like this."
Police Inspector Steve Flori had a similar message.
"These two men are violent criminals and this particular victim has taken it upon himself to accost them," he told reporters overnight.
"I advise people not to do that."
Police are searching for the two men, described as being in their 20s, Caucasian in appearance with brown hair and wearing dark, hooded jumpers.
They were last seen driving the car, with Queensland number plate 704 XBP, along Boomerang Street in St Lucia.
