Saving recipes

How do I save a recipe?

Every recipe on the site can be saved and organised into personal collections of folders in your own recipe book. To save just click the on the save button, located directly underneath the recipe description. You will be able to select an existing recipe book or save into the default My Favourites folder.  You can access all of your saved items by clicking on the Edit Profile button at the top right corner of the page, and selecting My Recipe Book tab.

How do I create a new folder in my Recipe Book?

To create a new folder, access your My Recipe Book in your profile. Click on the New Folder button and give your new folder a name. At this stage you can't create a new folder from a recipe page. You can edit the folders name at any time by clicking on the edit button (looks like a pencil) and re-naming the folder.

Where do I find recipes I've saved?

Recipes are saved into your private recipe books. To access your personal recipe book, members need to first login. At the top of the page in the navigation bar, click on Edit Profile and you will be taken to your personal page with your My Details and My Recipe Book. If you need any help, please send an email to admin@bestrecipes.com.au and we would be happy to guide you.

How do I print a recipe?

You don't need to be logged in to your Best Recipes account to print a recipe, just click the Print button located in the tool bar underneath the recipe description.

How do I add one of my recipes?

You can add your original recipes on our Submit a Recipe page. We've made some updates to our recipe submission form since we relaunched in September 2014. We've heard your feedback that it was a bit tricky or time-consuming to share a recipe so we've simplified the process removing some mandatory fields and allowing you to add ingredients and measurements as text. You can now take a photo on your mobile phone or add it straight from your phone's camera roll.

Where do I find the latest recipes?

You can find the latest recipes shared by home cooks and the Best Recipes team in two places. You can find a full list of all recipes published within the last 90 days on our Latest Recipes page under the Recipes index. There's a carousel at the bottom of the homepage shows the 15 most recently submitted recipes.

How do I search for recipes?

There is a search bar located at the top of every page, or by clicking on the magnifying glass icon when using your mobile or tablet. The new site is designed to be responsive – this means it adjusts to the display you are using and may look different on different computers and tablets. You can search by recipe name, ingredient, username of home cook or other keywords. The search results will return with the most relevant and popular recipes and related collections.

I really like recipes by another home cook. How do I find more of them?

You can search for recipes created and shared by a home cook by typing in the searchbox their username (exactly as it's written) in the searchbox.

Reviews

How do I make a comment or share a review of a recipe?

Only members are able to review and comment on recipes. The comment/review section is at the bottom of each recipe. You can leave a comment with what you thought of the recipe, any changes you made or would make next time and a star rating (1-5). We ask that our home cooks be polite and factual when sharing their opinions of recipes. Our editorial team reserve the right to remove or edit comments that  breach our terms and conditions.

Where do I find the latest reviews?

You can find the latest reviews shared by home cooks in two places. You can find a full list of all recipes published within the last 90 days on our Latest Reviews page under the Recipes index. There's also the five most recently reviewed recipes in a box called Latest Reviews on the right-hand side of every page.

How do I access my own reviews?

You can find your reviews and comments on recipes within your My Recipe Book in a folder called My Reviewed Recipes.

How do I edit a recipe or a review that I have shared?

If you'd like to make some changes to a recipe or a review that you have submitted, you can send an email to team at admin@bestrecipes.com.au. Please include your username, the recipe name, the URL of the recipe and the details of changes you would like made.

How do I add a photo to a recipe?

You can add your own photos by clicking the Add your photo button underneath the recipe image on each recipe page. Photos can be added by taking a photo or uploading a photo on your mobile or tablet, or direct from your desktop. You will need to be a member of the site to share your photos. The editorial team reserves the right to not publish photos that aren't of the recipe, are poor quality or breach our terms and conditions for site usage.

Why don't some recipes have photos?

Our images come from home cooks who have created and shared their recipes. As our site was created almost 10 years ago, before mobile phones had cameras, the majority of the original recipes were submitted without photos. We love seeing your recipe images so have created a carousel of recipe images shared by our home cooks. Share your photos by clicking the Add your photo button underneath the recipe image on each recipe page.

How do I update/register to try new products?

We are re-launching our product sampling program in October with a new name - Best in Basket. Our Best in Basket members sign up to receive free products to trial and share their thoughts and experiences with the community. You can sign up for Best in Basket or update your current preferences now through your member profile.

Site updates

Where has the menu planner gone to?

The menu planner was not moved over to the new Best Recipes. We've found that our members aren't using the menu planner in its current format but may re-invent this feature in future.

Where have the forums gone?

With the rise of social media, we know that our member's conversations about food weren't just in our forums. There are fantastic food discussions happening across our Facebook page and we want to keep the conversation flowing on our recipes and how-to guides. We found that the forums weren’t being used by the majority of members, so the forums and private messaging is not a part of the new Best Recipes. We moved all the recipe discussions you've had in our forums into the comments on the recipe pages. We have expanded the review feature to include comments to make it easier to rate, review and ask questions of your fellow home cooks.

I really miss a feature from the old site - are you going to bring it back?

The Best Recipes community is so passionate about creating and sharing recipes. We're listening to your feedback and using this to help inform the building of new features and fixing bugs and issues with the site. If you have feedback please send the team an email at admin@bestrecipes.com.au

I need help! How can I ask you a question?

All feedback and questions can be sent to admin@bestrecipes.com.au
