The official "Refugee" music video by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers from the album "Damn the Torpedoes," recorded in 1979. ---------- Technical Details: ------------------------- The video was sourced from YouTube. The video's audio source was replaced with a high-quality and Stereo PCM-16 WAV (FLAC source) from the remastered box set circa 1995, "Playback." The video and audio were then synchronized in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, speeding up the video by 100.36% to account for the old video tape from which the video came from running a bit slow compared to the accurate digital copy of the song. A +0.36% speed difference is so small, you'd never notice it, but if the video was left alone, the audio/video sync would have started to drift a small bit right after the beginning and progressiv...

This is a half-hour documentary special I produced and directed for MTV in 1986. Tom Petty’s hand had finally healed (after he’d broken it in a fit of frustrated pique caused by his inability to complete the long-gestating “Southern Accents” album) and the band was anxious to play. We captured the Heartbreaker’s very first live show in years – an impromptu concert on the roof of the Don Ce Sar hotel in St. Petersburg (a rather obvious tribute to the Beatles' "Let It Be"). But first -- we journeyed to Tom’s hometown of Gainesville, FL and retraced the band’s early days. Charles M. Young of Rolling Stone conducted a far-reaching interview with Tom, and for good measure we visited the set of one of the new “Alice In Wonderland” – themed music videos produced for the record’s release. Abstract What moves us to action? Through this sound scape project we will explore music’s influence on social movements/events in the U.S. and abroad during times of war and peace (ie. The Civil Rights Movement, Apartheid, Occupy Wall Street and Nigeria, The L.A. Riots, Arab Spring, and anti-war movement of the Vietnam War). Think about what movements in history have caused/pushed all people to act no matter their race, religion, age, and/or class? What did music do for these movements and for the people that sacrificed their lives for change? Descriptive Summary This is an exploration of music’s role in driving social movements. This is the part of the introduction where I usually tell you something about the band’s music and I don’t want to disappoint: JD Malone and the Experts rock. They’ve got a mature sound that is at once familiar and uniquely theirs – think John Mellencamp, Tom Petty, Bob Seger – guys like that. Brief chat anticipating the next Heartbreakers CD "Wildflowers".
Tom Petty's place in music history is assured. But the singer songwriter isn't slowing down. At 63, Petty is about to release his sixteenth studio album and launch a full North American tour. He sat down with the CBC's Jian Ghomeshi for an exclusive Canadian broadcast interview.

Tom Petty with Tom Snyder 1981 part 2 of 3 - An Interview with Tom Petty
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers being interviewed by Ian "Molly" Meldrum back in 1980, probably the first time Australians ever saw or heard of The HeartBreakers or Tom Petty. Tom Petty does most of the explaining on how, when & why The HeartBreakers started so I'll leave it there so you can see for yourself this very rare interview. The sho...
What you see on Vimeo are the rough edits. It's all the usable footage cut together in preparation of the overall edit. This is not a final edit. Fisherman Tom Best from Petty Harbour (Newfoundland, Canada) talks to the OFAM team about the fishery situation in Newfoundland.
With Occupy Wall Street right next door to the students at The New School I wanted to understand why more people and myself in general had not gotten involve...
MOSTWEST presents Marc Maron's interview with Benmont Tench, keyboardist for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Benmont gives us the secret to life just by telling us the story of recording Danny Boy with Johnny Cash.
But you’ll be able to judge that for yourself, first by watching a brand new music video they just produced and later – if they don’t tell me to eff off – in two exclusive live performances right here on Mr. Media. What is Mr. Media® Interviews? The calm of Charlie Rose, the curiosity of Terry Gross and the unpredictability of Howard Stern! Since February 2007, more than 1,000 exclusive Hollywood, celebrity, pop culture video and audio podcast interviews by Mr. Media®, a.k.a., Bob Andelman, with ne...

Tommy Steele spent 30+ years with most of the Los Angeles record labels starting with Warner Bros., CBS Records, Elektra/Asylum, MCA Records, Capitol and finally Virgin. Created packaging, advertising and marketing materials for an eclectic mix of music and artists—from The Beatles to the Beach Boys, Tom Petty, Bonnie Raitt, Tina Turner, Steve Miller Band, Foo Fighters, Beastie Boys and more. Nominated for 6 Grammy’s for packaging. Won one for Ultra Lounge. Authored several pop culture books on graphic design including the Hawaiian Shirt, Matchcover art, Poster stamps, Bowl-O-Rama, and the American clown. Still and always an art director and designer creating “art for art’s sake, money for God’s sake.”

Tom Petty Greatest Hits - Tom Petty Best Songs 2016
I got a room at the top of the world tonight
I can see everything tonight
I got a room where everyone
Can have a drink and forget those things
That went wrong in their life
I got a room at the top of the world tonight
I got a room at the top of the world tonight
I got a room at the top of the world tonight
And I ain't comin' down, I ain't comin' down
I got someone who loves me tonight
I got over a thousand dollars in the bank
And I'm all right
Look deep in the eyes of love
Look deep in the eyes of love
And find out what you were looking for
I got a room at the top of the world tonight
I got a room at the top of the world tonight
I got a room at the top of the world tonight
And I ain't comin' down, I ain't comin' down
I wish I could feel you tonight, little one
You're so far away
I want to reach out and touch your heart
Yeah like they do in those things on TV, I love you
Please love me, I'm not so bad
And I love you so
I got a room at the top of the world tonight
I got a room at the top of the world tonight
I got a room at the top of the world tonight
And I ain't comin' down, I ain't comin' down
