Recognition may refer to:
A film festival is an organized, extended presentation of films in one or more cinemas or screening venues, usually in a single city or region. Increasingly, film festivals show some films outdoors. Films may be of recent date and, depending upon the festival's focus, can include international and domestic releases. Some festivals focus on a specific film-maker or genre (e.g., film noir) or subject matter (e.g., horror film festivals). A number of film festivals specialise in short films of a defined maximum length. Film festivals are typically annual events. Some film historians do not consider Film Festivals as official releases of film, like Jerry Beck. The best known film festivals are the Venice Film Festival, the Cannes Film Festival, the Toronto Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, and the Berlin International Film Festival, the latter being the largest film festival worldwide, based on attendance. The Venice Film Festival is the oldest major festival. The Melbourne International Film Festival is the largest film festival in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the oldest in the world. A 2013 study found 3,000 active films festivals worldwide—active defined as having held an event in the previous 24 months.
International law is the set of rules generally regarded and accepted as binding in relations between states and between nations. It serves as a framework for the practice of stable and organized international relations. International law differs from state-based legal systems in that it is primarily applicable to countries rather than to private citizens. National law may become international law when treaties delegate national jurisdiction to supranational tribunals such as the European Court of Human Rights or the International Criminal Court. Treaties such as the Geneva Conventions may require national law to conform to respective parts.
Much of international law is consent-based governance. This means that a state member is not obliged to abide by this type of international law, unless it has expressly consented to a particular course of conduct. This is an issue of state sovereignty. However, other aspects of international law are not consent-based but still are obligatory upon state and non-state actors such as customary international law and peremptory norms (jus cogens).
Ben Lewis may refer to:
Diplomatic recognition in international law is a unilateral political act with domestic and international legal consequences, whereby a state acknowledges an act or status of another state or government in control of a state (may be also a recognized state). Recognition can be accorded either de facto or de jure. Recognition can be a declaration to that effect by the recognizing government, or an act of recognition such as entering into a treaty with the other state. A vote by a country in the United Nations in favour of the membership of another country is an implicit recognition of that country by the country so voting, as only states may be members of the UN.
The non-recognition of particular acts of a state does not normally effect the recognition of the state itself. For example, the international rejection of the occupation of particular territory by a recognised state does not imply non-recognition of the state itself, nor a rejection of a change of government by illegal means.
State enjoys the rights, duties and obligations under International law. When the existing States declare that in their opinion the new state fulfills the condition of statehood as required by International law then the new state is recognised as a state and becomes member of International community. Recognition means acknowledgement for acceptance of a new state as a member of International community. The attributes of Statehood are people, territory, Government and sovereignty. There are two main theories of recognition. 1. Constitutive theory and 2. Declaratory theory. 1. Constitutive theory- According to this theory, when existing states recognises new state by their consent, then only the new state becomes International personality. Recognition depends on will and consent of existin...

Sure pizza and doughnuts at work are a nice treat, and employees won't turn down a free holiday turkey, but is this actually helping employees feel recognized and engaged at work? Claire McCarty, a professor in the College of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, has spent over 25 years bridging the gap between management theory and practice. It's been estimated that up to 70% of U.S. workers are emotionally disconnected from their workplaces. The lack of recognition is certainly one reason. In an era of limited time, money, and energy, we need to focus on what actually works. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

In this project we develop a system capable of generating expression transcripts of videos in an interview setting. The system uses real-time generic face tracking and a multi-class classifier to discriminate the seven basic expressions. Expression transcripts are meta-data that can be used to better understand a discourse and may even detect when politician lie... someday.

The talks at the Deep Learning School on September 24/25, 2016 were amazing. I clipped out individual talks from the full live streams and provided links to each below in case that's useful for people who want to watch specific talks several times (like I do). Please check out the official website (http://www.bayareadlschool.org) and full live streams below. Having read, watched, and presented deep learning material over the past few years, I have to say that this is one of the best collection of introductory deep learning talks I've yet encountered. Here are links to the individual talks and the full live streams for the two days: 1. Foundations of Deep Learning (Hugo Larochelle, Twitter) - https://youtu.be/zij_FTbJHsk 2. Everybody knows that Windows Vista Speech Recognition was terrible, but just how much of a train wreck was it? Well, lets put it to the test! We will use the OpenCV library which makes the tutorial accessible to beginners. Together, we'll go from building our face dataset to recognizing faces in a live video. If time permits we will use this face recognition system to classify banking da Abstract Building a live face recognition system in the blink of a very slow eye In this hands-on tutorial we will build a live face recognition system from scratch with the use of the OpenCV methods. Since face recognition is the main goal of this tutorial we will form teams of 2-3 people and recognize the faces in a live feed. We will make use of the Open...

Methods in acoustic speech recognition and natural language processing can be utilised in a modified form to detect and analyse further affective information transported by the acoustic signal: emotional content, intentions, and involvement in a situation. We describe technical steps for software-supported affect annotation and automatic emotion recognition, report on the data used for evaluation of these methods, and show possible applications in companion systems and in dialog control.
You don't understand the words I say.
But I am going to step forward anyway.
Cause I know this would make your day.
If we just get it started off this way.
We got something for all of you to hear.
Even those in back who must stand near.
Gonna preach it loud and make it clear.
Gonna tell you just what you fear.
Time to throw away your pride.
Time to take what's stuck inside.
Were in front you cant deny.
There's no where to run, no where to hide.
Time to throw away your fear.
Time to let your words ring clear.
Only then can you speak from here.
Time for you to go.
Time for you to go.
Tell my why you won't look at me.
What does it take to recognize.
That we know the truth won't compromize?
We can all see right through your lies.
I think it's about time to open up your eyes.
What does it take to get to you?
When will you get your fucking clue?
All the shit that we've been through.
We'll make it to the top no thanks to you.
Time to let the shit be dropped.
Time to let the hate just stop.
Time for us to be on top.
Time for you to go.
Time for you to go.
Now I'm just sick. So sick of
your shit. How I can't stand you
you think I can't handle being
in front, holding the gun,
calling the plays, this is
mundane. Cause I will get big
not live in sin, I wont just
doubt you, I'll live without
you. Time is for change, you'll
stay the same, I might get stuck
