Esther Walker (Oct.18,1894 - July 26,1943) was an American musical comedy performer.
She was born Esther Thomas in Pewee Valley, Kentucky. Adopting the stage name of Esther Walker, she appeared on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theatre in a 1919 production of Monte Cristo, Jr., and later that year performed at the 44th Street Theatre in Hello, Alexander.
Walker recorded over 32 songs for Victor and Brunswick record labels, during the years 1919-1920 and 1925--1927, including "Sahara (We'll Soon Be Dry Like You)" from Monte Cristo, Jr. Walker wed Texas businessman Karl Hoblitzelle, a successful manager of movie and vaudeville theatres.
The two founded the Hoblitzelle Foundation in 1942, which still exists today.
Esther Walker died of cancer in Dallas, Texas on July 26, 1943 at the age of 48.

Ruth Etting (November 23, 1896 -- September 24, 1978) was an American singing star and actress of the 1920s and 1930s, who had over 60 hit recordings and worked in stage, radio, and film. She is known as "America's sweetheart of song".
Good News is a musical with a book by Laurence Schwab and B.G. DeSylva, lyrics by DeSylva and Lew Brown, and music by Ray Henderson. The story is set in the Roaring Twenties at Tait College, where football star Tom Marlowe falls in love with studious Connie Lane, who is tutoring him so he can pass astronomy and be eligible to play in the big game.
The show opened on Broadway in 1927, the same year as Show Boat, but though its plot was decidedly old-fashioned in comparison to Show Boat's daring storyline, it was also a hit. Good News spawned two films, an unsuccessful 1974 Broadway revival, and a 1993 updated production by Music Theatre of Wichita, which made numerous changes to the score, adding such numbers as "Button Up Your Overcoat", "You're the Cream in My Coffee" and "Life Is Just a Bowl of Cherries". It has since been licensed for use by amateur groups. It proved to be DeSylva, Brown, and Henderson's biggest hit out of a string of topical musicals.
MGM released two film versions, the first in 1930 with Bessie Love and Cliff Edwards and the second in 1947 with June Allyson and Peter Lawford. The Railroad Hour broadcast a 45-minute condensed version as its first episode on October 4, 1948.

She made records in 1919 and 1920, and then stopped until she resumed from 1925 to 1927, making discs for Victor, Brunswick, and others. "Sahara" was one successful Victor disc (her face graced some sheet music covers, including for "Sahara").
In 1920, as her career was taking off, she married the wealthy Karl Hoblitzelle.
In 1942 Karl and Esther chartered a philanthropic foundation called the Hoblitzelle Foundation. The Foundation's website gives this information: "Karl Hoblitzelle was born in St. Louis during the late 19th Century. After serving as an event manager at the St. Louis World's Fair, he came to Dallas, Texas in 1903 and built a chain of vaudeville theaters. These auditoriums were soon transformed into movie houses, and the success of Mr. Hoblitzelle's entertainment business created financial resources which he invested in the growing oil and gas, real estate, and banking industries in Texas. He married Esther Thomas in 1920, a Broadway starlet who performed under the name of 'Esther Walker.' Both were active in the social, civic, and cultural activities of Dallas and established the Foundation in 1942. Mrs. Hoblitzelle died unexpectedly in 1943, and Mr. Hoblitzelle lived until 1967. During his lifetime, he was primarily interested in agronomy, medical research and teaching, community affairs, and education."
Esther Walker died of cancer in Dallas, Texas, on July 26, 1943. Her husband died in March of 1967.

Just recorded a small collection of Esther Walker tunes. She was an American musical comedy performer and recorded 32 songs for Victor and Brunswick record labels during the years 1919-1920 and 1925-1927. The height of her recording success was probably in 1926 when she recorded the Brunswick sides "Ya Gotta Know How To Love" and "As Long As I Have You And You Have Me".

George Olsen (March 18, 1893 - March 18, 1971) was an American band-leader. Born in Portland, Oregon he attended the University of Michigan, where he formed his band, George Olsen and his Music. He made the transition to Broadway, appearing in Kid Boots, the Ziegfeld Follies of 1924, and Good News. George Olsen and his Music were prolific Victor recording artists and their records are among the most numerous found by record collectors today, testifying to their original popularity. He and his orchestra were in Eddie Cantor's 1928 Broadway hit Whoopee!, and in the 1930 movie version. He met a singer, Ethel Shutta, who sings and dances memorably in Whoopee!, and they married, appearing together in nightclubs and on radio. They had two children; following a divorce, Olsen opened a restaurant in New Jersey.
Olsen signed with Victor in 1924 and remained as one of Victor's most popular bands through 1933 when he signed with Columbia. He stayed with Columbia through 1934. He recorded a single session in 1938 for Decca.
In 1936, Olsen became leader of Orville Knapp's band after Knapp died in a plane crash. Olsen was chosen to lead the band by Knapp's widow. Morale problems plagued the group, and in 1938, after many musicians had already left, the group disbanded.
A resident of Paramus, New Jersey, Olsen died there on March 18, 1971.

It is a well known fact that Quentin Tarantino is a self-proclaimed cinephile. But the writer/director's love for cinema is most obviously expressed through his own films. In addition to showing his characters spending a great deal of time discussing cinema, Tarantino's films are jam-packed with homages and visual references to the movies that have intrigued him throughout his life.
Many filmmakers pay homage, but Tarantino takes things a step further by replicating exact moments from a variety of genres and smashing them together to create his own distinct vision. Just like 'Kill Bill: Vol 2' (2004) draws on 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly' (1966) and 'Samurai Fiction' (1998), Tarantino's work often reflects Spaghetti Westerns and Japanese cinema--both new and old. His unique way of referencing other films allows him to bend genre boundaries and shatter the mold of what we expect to experience. While his methods are often criticized and he is accused of "ripping off" other filmmakers, it seems that Tarantino is simply writing love letters to the art he is ever so passionate about.

Victor 20872 - Peaked On US Music Charts At #3 In 1927 George Olsen (March 18, 1893 - March 18, 1971) was an American band-leader. Born in Portland, Oregon he attended the University of Michigan, where he formed his band, George Olsen and his Music. He made the transition to Broadway, appearing in Kid Boots, the Ziegfeld Follies of 1924, and Good News. George Olsen and his Music were prolific Victor recording artists and their records are among the most numerous found by record collectors today, testifying to their original popularity. He and his orchestra were in Eddie Cantor's 1928 Broadway hit Whoopee!, and in the 1930 movie version. He met a singer, Ethel Shutta, who sings and dances memorably in Whoopee!, and they married, appearing together in nightclubs and on radio. They had two children; following a divorce, Olsen opened a restaurant in New Jersey. Olsen signed with Victor in 1924 and remained as one of Victor's most popular bands through 1933 when he signed with Columbia. He stayed with Columbia through 1934. He recorded a single session in 1938 for Decca. In 1936, Olsen became leader of Orville Knapp's band after Knapp died in a plane crash. Olsen was chosen to lead the band by Knapp's widow. Morale problems plagued the group, and in 1938, after many musicians had already left, the group disbanded. A resident of Paramus, New Jersey, Olsen died there on March 18, 1971. -

Many filmmakers pay homage, but Tarantino takes things a step further by replicating exact moments from a variety of genres and smashing them together to create his own distinct vision. Just like 'Kill Bill: Vol 2' (2004) draws on 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly' (1966) and 'Samurai Fiction' (1998), Tarantino's work often reflects Spaghetti Westerns and Japanese cinema--both new and old. His unique way of referencing other films allows him to bend genre boundaries and shatter the mold of what we expect to experience. Rasmus (Rass) contacted me in mid October, well I think it was at around that time. He told me of his idea of putting up a Birthday Jam for OnWheels' 1st year of existence and he also asked me if I could come out and make a video of this Jam. Time has passed and I have contacted Rass as to when it will happen, his response was that in a few days he will let me know. Couple of days passed and there it was, a confirmed date of the jam, was stoked on this for sure. I really liked the idea of it being an invitational only, which meant only one thing - rad group of friends is going to gather, shred, chill and have a good time! Johannes and myself have arranged that we will be heading together to Tihemetsa Skatepark. Before heading out to meet Johannes, I've read that Eki and Taavi have overslept, but luckily they took the bus to Parnu and from Parnu to Tihemetsa, which was good news to hear. Met Johannes at a parking lot and we began our journey to Tihemetsa skatepark. You can see our randomly filmed trip with a GoPro here - https://vimeo.com/54220857. Shortly after we arrived at the skatepark, Rass and Gert showed up as well. We saw the cake, which looked mighty delicious. This was my and Johannes' first time at Tihemetsa indoor skatepark and it looked really good. Johannes warmed up a bit and I took some shots of the skatepark in general. A bit of time has passed and the riders started to gather around at the spot. Best riders, all friends, from Parnu, Viljandi, Tartu and Tallinn have gathered around to celebrate the 1st year of OnWheels existence. Everybody absolutely shredded the place up with sickter tricks. When everybody was tired of riding and didn’t have any strength anymore, some were hurt during the riding as well, we had a bite of the delicious OnWheels Birthday cake. Thank you OnWheels and Rass for this tasty treat. Rass made 3 categories as to who will get the prizes and they were: Best Youngest Rider of the Day, Best Trick of the Day and Best Rider of the Day. With everybody shredding so good it would have been difficult to cast a vote by one person, so Rass decided that each rider would write one name for each of the categories. It’s really amazing to see that everybody casted a vote as to who was the best rider in each of the category. I think being picked by a fellow rider/friend is so much more rewarding than being judged in a contest by judges. Don’t get me wrong contests are good, but they are not everything. There is more to life than being the best at a contest. With the votes set into place, the results were as follows: Best Youngest Rider of the Day: - split to 2 riders: Enrico Orobko and Rain Robert Randvali Best Trick of the Day: - Talis Viirpalu for throwing down a barspin to whip combo. Esther Walker (Oct.18,1894 - July 26,1943) was an American musical comedy performer. She was born Esther Thomas in Pewee Valley, Kentucky. Adopting the stage name of Esther Walker, she appeared on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theatre in a 1919 production of Monte Cristo, Jr., and later that year performed at the 44th Street Theatre in Hello, Alexander. Walker recorded over 32 songs for Victor and Brunswick record labels, during the years 1919-1920 and 1925--1927, including "Sahara (We'll Soon Be Dry Like You)" from Monte Cristo, Jr. Walker wed Texas businessman Karl Hoblitzelle, a successful manager of movie and vaudeville theatres. Rasmus (Rass) contacted me in mid October, well I think it was at around that time. He told me of his idea of putting up a Birthday Jam for OnWheels' 1st year of existence and he also asked me if I could come out and make a video of this Jam. All three children were with her during her final days, and her loving husband of 66 years, Harrison Frank, was at home with her holding her hand at the end. Walker recorded over 32 songs for Victor and Brunswick record labels, during the years 1919-1920 and 1925--1927, including "Sahara (We'll Soon Be Dry Like You)" from Monte Cristo, Jr. Walker wed Texas businessman Karl Hoblitzelle, a successful manager of movie and vaudeville theatres.
The two founded the Hoblitzelle Foundation in 1942, which still exists today.
Esther Walker died of cancer in Dallas, Texas on July 26, 1943 at the age of 48.

These auditoriums were soon transformed into movie houses, and the success of Mr. Hoblitzelle's entertainment business created financial resources which he invested in the growing oil and gas, real estate, and banking industries in Texas. He married Esther Thomas in 1920, a Broadway starlet who performed under the name of 'Esther Walker.' Both were active in the social, civic, and cultural activities of Dallas and established the Foundation in 1942. Mrs. Hoblitzelle died unexpectedly in 1943, and Mr. Hoblitzelle lived until 1967. During his lifetime, he was primarily interested in agronomy, medical research and teaching, community affairs, and education."

George Olsen (March 18, 1893 - March 18, 1971) was an American band-leader. Born in Portland, Oregon he attended the University of Michigan, where he formed his band, George Olsen and his Music. He made the transition to Broadway, appearing in Kid Boots, the Ziegfeld Follies of 1924, and Good News. George Olsen and his Music were prolific Victor recording artists and their records are among the most numerous found by record collectors today, testifying to their original popularity. He and his orchestra were in Eddie Cantor's 1928 Broadway hit Whoopee!, and in the 1930 movie version. He met a singer, Ethel Shutta, who sings and dances memorably in Whoopee!, and they married, appearing together in nightclubs and on radio. They had two children; following a divorce, Olsen opened a restaurant in New Jersey.
Olsen signed with Victor in 1924 and remained as one of Victor's most popular bands through 1933 when he signed with Columbia. He stayed with Columbia through 1934. He recorded a single session in 1938 for Decca.
In 1936, Olsen became leader of Orville Knapp's band after Knapp died in a plane crash. Olsen was chosen to lead the band by Knapp's widow. Morale problems plagued the group, and in 1938, after many musicians had already left, the group disbanded.
A resident of Paramus, New Jersey, Olsen died there on March 18, 1971.

It is a well known fact that Quentin Tarantino is a self-proclaimed cinephile. But the writer/director's love for cinema is most obviously expressed through his own films. In addition to showing his characters spending a great deal of time discussing cinema, Tarantino's films are jam-packed with homages and visual references to the movies that have intrigued him throughout his life.
Many filmmakers pay homage, but Tarantino takes things a step further by replicating exact moments from a variety of genres and smashing them together to create his own distinct vision. Just like 'Kill Bill: Vol 2' (2004) draws on 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly' (1966) and 'Samurai Fiction' (1998), Tarantino's work often reflects Spaghetti Westerns and Japanese cinema--both new and old. His unique way of referencing other films allows him to bend genre boundaries and shatter the mold of what we expect to experience. While his methods are often criticized and he is accused of "ripping off" other filmmakers, it seems that Tarantino is simply writing love letters to the art he is ever so passionate about.

Rasmus (Rass) contacted me in mid October, well I think it was at around that time. He told me of his idea of putting up a Birthday Jam for OnWheels' 1st year of existence and he also asked me if I could come out and make a video of this Jam. Time has passed and I have contacted Rass as to when it will happen, his response was that in a few days he will let me know. Couple of days passed and there it was, a confirmed date of the jam, was stoked on this for sure. I really liked the idea of it being an invitational only, which meant only one thing - rad group of friends is going to gather, shred, chill and have a good time!
Johannes and myself have arranged that we will be heading together to Tihemetsa Skatepark. Before heading out to meet Johannes, I've read that Eki and Taavi have overslept, but luckily they took the bus to Parnu and from Parnu to Tihemetsa, which was good news to hear. Met Johannes at a parking lot and we began our journey to Tihemetsa skatepark. You can see our randomly filmed trip with a GoPro here - https://vimeo.com/54220857.
Shortly after we arrived at the skatepark, Rass and Gert showed up as well. We saw the cake, which looked mighty delicious. This was my and Johannes' first time at Tihemetsa indoor skatepark and it looked really good. Johannes warmed up a bit and I took some shots of the skatepark in general.
A bit of time has passed and the riders started to gather around at the spot. Best riders, all friends, from Parnu, Viljandi, Tartu and Tallinn have gathered around to celebrate the 1st year of OnWheels existence. Everybody absolutely shredded the place up with sickter tricks.
When everybody was tired of riding and didn’t have any strength anymore, some were hurt during the riding as well, we had a bite of the delicious OnWheels Birthday cake. Thank you OnWheels and Rass for this tasty treat.
Rass made 3 categories as to who will get the prizes and they were: Best Youngest Rider of the Day, Best Trick of the Day and Best Rider of the Day. With everybody shredding so good it would have been difficult to cast a vote by one person, so Rass decided that each rider would write one name for each of the categories. It’s really amazing to see that everybody casted a vote as to who was the best rider in each of the category. I think being picked by a fellow rider/friend is so much more rewarding than being judged in a contest by judges. Don’t get me wrong contests are good, but they are not everything. There is more to life than being the best at a contest.
With the votes set into place, the results were as follows:

It is with great sadness that we share the news that our dear Bubbles passed away following a severe stroke. All three children were with her during her final days, and her loving husband of 66 years, Harrison Frank, was at home with her holding her hand at the end. We want to thank all our family for your comforting words and support during this last journey with our sweet little Bubbles. You truly have helped us. She had a wonderful, long life filled with family, friends, travel, adventure, good works, and love. She loved you all so very much.
When you think of her, think of her bright smile, delightful laugh, and wonderful heart.
