Well, that's a good starter question.

Alexa, Siri scoot over -- Google Assistant is here.

Google announced on Thursday at its I/O Developer Conference that Google Assistant, the Google version of voice assistant technology, will be available for download from the App Store, a year after the app was initially launched.

Sorry Siri, Assistant is the coolest kid on the block.

Assistant is the digital, voice-activated application that seeks to rival Amazon's Alexa, Apple's Siri and Mircosoft's Cortana. While the app is already available on Android devices, this new announcement promises to improve Apple customer's experience with Artificial Intelligence technology.

While Assistant won't be able to replace Siri completely, it will function as part of Google's already existing iPhone app.

Google's voice assistant is generally considered more powerful than Siri, because it is a third-party integration into Apple devices. This means it is able to answer more complicated questions from users, as well as help control other external devices.

This includes the ability to play music through most music apps (not just Apple Music) and play movies on Chromecast. Assistant also boasts better free speech recognition and memory as compared to its Apple counterpart.

At this stage the app only operates in English, however, Google has announced that new languages will be available soon. These include French, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese and later, Italian, Spanish and Korean.
