What are EMFs?
EMFs, or electromagnetic fields, are invisible areas of energy or lines of force that emanate from matter. Our bodies have electric and magnetic fields that are associated with our nervous and muscular systems. The Earth also has a natural magnetic field and there are electric fields in the atmosphere. But, usually when we refer to EMF exposure and health risks, we are talking about the electric-magnetic fields that come from our electrical devices. This kind of EMF exposure comes from our phones, our cars, power lines, laptops, cellphone towers, wifi, and even our blenders and toaster ovens! They’ve been kinda under the radar up until the last decade or so because they weren’t as prevalent. But, now, it’s a whole different ballgame. We can get a Wi-Fi signal just about anywhere, and so many of us walk around with multiple personal EMF devices like cell phones, smart phones, and laptop computers. People are starting to take notice to this potential health issue.
Are EMFs dangerous?
This is the 10,000 dollar question. Unfortunately, there aren’t a ton of conclusive studies on this topic, which is a shame because we are literally bombarded with them daily. Most of us live in a home with our Wi-Fi on 24/7, a smart meter attached to the outside of our living room wall, and sleep with our iPhone by our heads. Our children play with our cell phones or use electronics to learn and play. This EMF-infused technology has become a way of life for many of us. But, we need to be careful. There is a growing body of scientific evidence showing that too much EMF exposure can be harmful to our health. So much so that the World Health Organization classified EMFs as “possibly carcinogenic to humans” back in 2011. This was after a series of studies showed a soft correlation between EMFs and a type of brain cancer. Scary stuff?! We are essentially undergoing a great experiment that no other civilization has ever faced. We’re exposed to 100 million times greater artificial EMF radiation than our grandparents, and that exposure grows each year. If you think about it, we are made up of electrons ourselves and it makes sense that too much these non-native electrical forces (from our electronic devices) could interfere with our body’s homeostasis.
Symptoms of too much EMF exposure

Trouble sleeping soundly through the night

Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination
The Indian Institutes of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) was an annual engineering college entrance examination in India. It was used as the sole admission test by the 16 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian School of Mines Dhanbad (to be converted into IIT). The examination was organised each year by one of the various IITs, on a round robin rotation pattern. It had a very low admission rate (about 10,000 in 500,000 in 2011), and was thus recognised as one of the toughest examinations in the world.
In 2013 it was replaced by the two-phase Joint Entrance Examination.
History
The first IIT, IIT Kharagpur, started in 1951. In the initial few years (1951-1954) students were admitted on the basis of their academic results followed by an Interview in several Centers across the country. From 1955-1959 admission was via an all India examination held only for IIT Kharagpur (other IITs had not started by then). Branches were allotted through Interviews/counselling held at Kharagpur.

Voltage

What are EMFs?
EMFs, or electromagnetic fields, are invisible areas of energy or lines of force that emanate from matter. Our bodies have electric and magnetic fields that are associated with our nervous and muscular systems. The Earth also has a natural magnetic field and there are electric fields in the atmosphere. But, usually when we refer to EMF exposure and health risks, we are talking about the electric-magnetic fields that come from our electrical devices. This kind of EMF exposure comes from our phones, our cars, power lines, laptops, cellphone towers, wifi, and even our blenders and toaster ovens! They’ve been kinda under the radar up until the last decade or so because they weren’t as prevalent. But, now, it’s a whole different ballgame. We can get a Wi-Fi signal just about anywhere, and so many of us walk around with multiple personal EMF devices like cell phones, smart phones, and laptop computers. People are starting to take notice to this potential health issue.
Are EMFs dangerous?
This is the 10,000 dollar question. Unfortunately, there aren’t a ton of conclusive studies on this topic, which is a shame because we are literally bombarded with them daily. Most of us live in a home with our Wi-Fi on 24/7, a smart meter attached to the outside of our living room wall, and sleep with our iPhone by our heads. Our children play with our cell phones or use electronics to learn and play. This EMF-infused technology has become a way of life for many of us. But, we need to be careful. There is a growing body of scientific evidence showing that too much EMF exposure can be harmful to our health. So much so that the World Health Organization classified EMFs as “possibly carcinogenic to humans” back in 2011. This was after a series of studies showed a soft correlation between EMFs and a type of brain cancer. Scary stuff?! We are essentially undergoing a great experiment that no other civilization has ever faced. We’re exposed to 100 million times greater artificial EMF radiation than our grandparents, and that exposure grows each year. If you think about it, we are made up of electrons ourselves and it makes sense that too much these non-native electrical forces (from our electronic devices) could interfere with our body’s homeostasis.
Symptoms of too much EMF exposure
Chronic headaches
Excessive fatigue
Feeling of stress or ‘wired’
Trouble sleeping soundly through the night
Tingling, burning or prickling skin sensations
A buzzing or static feeling in brain
Ringing ears
Unexplained rashes or hives

The electron mobility of a conductor is defined as the drift velocity acquired per unit strength of the electric field applied across the conductor.

In S.I., its unit is (m^2)(V^-1)(s^-1).
Ohm's law :-
Ohm's law states that the current flowing through a conductor is directly proportional to the potential difference across its two ends, provided that the physical conditions ( temperature, mechanical strain, etc ) remain constant.

or, V = R i
where, R is constant of proportionality and is called electric resistance of the conductor.
Resistance of a conductor.
Resistance of a conductor is defined as the ratio of the potential difference applied across the conductor to the current flowing through it.
Mathematically,
R = V/i
In S.I., its unit is ohm (Ω).
1 ohm = 1 volt ampere-1.
Resistivity of a material :-
Resistivity or specific resistance of a material is defined as the resistance offered by a wire of that material of unit length and unit cross-sectional area.

Conductance of a conductor :-
The reciprocal of resistance of a conductor is called the conductance of that conductor.
Conductance, G = 1/R
In S.I., its unit is mho or ohm-1 (Ω-1) or siemen (S)
1 mho = 1/(1 ohm)
Conductivity of a material :-
The reciprocal of resistivity of a material is called the conductivity of that conductor.
Conductivity, σ = 1/ρ
In S.I., its unit is ohm-1 metre-1 (Ω-1 m-1) or mho metre-1 or seimen metre-1(S m-1)
Thermistor :-
A thermistor is a heat sensitive resistor whose resistance varies appreciably with change in temperature.
Superconductivity :-
The phenomenon, due to which a substance loses all signs of its resistance, when cooled to its critical temperature, is called superconductivity.
e.g., at 4.2K mercury shows superconductivity.
The substance, which offers superconductivity, are called superconductors.
Series combination of resistors :-
Two or more resistors are said to be in connected in series combination, if same current passes through each of them, when some potential difference is applied across the combination.
If R_s is the resistance equivalent to the series combination,
R_s = R_1+ R_2 + R_3 + ....
Kirchhoff's laws :-
Kirchhoff's first law (junction rule) :- It states that the algebraic sum of the currents meeting at a point in an electric circuit is always zero.
Kirchhoff's first law (loop rule) :- it states that in any part of an electric circuit, the algebraic sum of the e.m.f.s is equal to the algebraic sum of the products of the resistances and currents flowing through them.
