A Brisbane chef who killed and dismembered his Indonesian partner before trying to dispose of the remains by boiling them on the stove had seen a doctor for anxiety, depression and a sleep disorder in the weeks before taking his own life in October 2014, a court has heard.

Mayang Prasetyo, a 27-year-old transgender escort, was allegedly murdered by Marcus Volke at their Teneriffe apartment before he then fled the scene and took his own life in a nearby industrial bin soon after police arrived for a welfare check.

During questioning before state coroner Terry Ryan on Monday, investigating officer Detective Sergeant Joshua Walsh told counsel assisting Emily Cooper that Volke had presented to a doctor for mental health issues two weeks before the couple's deaths.
