Organic make-up is becoming increasingly popular as an alternative for the products many women use on their skin every day. Make-up often has chemicals in it which can irritate skin, but certified organic products avoid parabens and other commonly found preservatives.
Certified organic products are also ethically sourced and produced, and often free from animal testing, making them a sometimes expensive but always worthwhile investment. We've listed which organisation has certified the product below each entry.
1. Odylique Essential Care Organic Mineral Lipstick in Fig Fondant: £18, Odylique
Eighty-six per cent organic and vegan this long-lasting formula doesn't dry out lips thanks to the key moisturising ingredients: shea and jojoba butter. Unlike some lipsticks that leave those familiar lines around the edge of the mouth, this blends well as it fades before reapplication. Our favourite is ‘Fig Fondant’. The colour complements fuller lips and suits smokey eye make-up for a more gothic or evening look. It also works well with a darker lip liner for a night out.

This foundation is ideal for anyone looking for full coverage. Made from 76 per cent certified organic ingredients, it has a wet consistency but sets quickly, so be sure to move fast when applying. The formula ensures even coverage and sits well under powder. This is best for producing a heavier set, matte finish that lasts well through an evening out.

3. Inika Mineral Foundation Powder: £27.50, Inika
The certified vegan powder is thick and ensures excellent coverage, sitting evenly on top of foundation and primer or on its own during the daytime. It also comes a skin-protecting SPF15 for anyone looking for make-up to use in warmer climates. Inika's powder and foundation work well together to produce a lasting finish for a more polished look.

4. Ilia Radiant Translucent Powder: £30, Naturismo
This follow-up to Ilia’s Fade Into You power is a good choice for summer as it has an SPF 20 rating. The powder, made from 40 per cent organic ingredients, is applied via a soft vegan synthetic twist-up brush which does not irritate skin. This design makes it a compact tool which can be easily kept in handbags for re-application. A lighter powder, this is an excellent choice for controlling shiny skin.

5. Green People Mineral Powder Blush: £15, Green People
Easy to apply, the deep colour highlights cheekbones and compliments paler skin tones. The talc-free formula makes layering easier and is suitable for those who are prone to eczema and acne. It also has SPF 15, giving extra protection for sensitive skin and comes in two shades: Rose and Peach.

6. NATorigin lengthening Mascara: £15.95, Nat Origin
This hypoallergenic mascara separates lashes evenly as well as lengthening them at the same time, resulting in a natural, clump-free look. The brush is slim and sleek, making this quick and easy to apply. It’s a good choice for those with sensitive eyes and contact-lenses wearers as the natural ingredients do not cause irritation, avoiding the panda look. After a few hours, we were still smudge-free.

7. Lavera Natural Mousse Foundation: £12.90, Pravera
A very light, creamy formula that dries to give a lighter texture, this foundation sits well on oily skin to create a matte finish. The formula is easily applied using fingers, making it a great choice for those wanting to touch up while on the go. It is available in three shades: ivory, honey and almond.

8. Vapour Stratus Instant Skin Perfector: £41, Naturisimo
While on the more expensive end of scale, a little goes a long way with this. The waxy stick glides easily across skin to create a dewy, radiant glow and can be worn on its own for a natural look. We found it to be an excellent primer which sits well under foundation, helping it to last longer. Ingredients are 70 per cent organic and 30 per cent minerals and essential oils.

Our favourite product was the Odylique Essential Care Organic Mineral Lipstick in Fig Fondant for its long-lasting and moisturising formula, closely followed by the multi-purpose Vapour Stratus Instant Skin Perfector.
