Look-In

SUB-STANDARD SORTIE from GET IT TOGETHER, were such a thing feasible, and with this being the 1970s it most certainly was. No audience, no canned applause, just ROY NORTH with some puppet bird with a large beak and a Manc accent, and another real life bird (also with a large beak) who, like Roy, would also give us some cover version of one of the hits of the week or a rendition of an old classic.

    Are you sure about this?

I think you’re confusing no fewer than three Granada kiddiepop shows, and conflating them with the title of the magazine initially plugged as a “Junior TV Times”. Those shows in full:

LIFT-OFF (OR LIFT-OFF WITH AYESHA): Ayesha “Ayesha out UFO” Brough, some cover versions, some genuine pop guests, and Ollie Beak for avian-flavoured comic relief.

LOOK ALIVE A one series-only show from 1975 presented by Stephanie de Sykes and Gordon Bennett (I kid you not), some cover versions, some genuine pop guests and features heavy on educating ver kids on the history and inner workings of pop. No Ollie Beak.

GET IT TOGETHER Roy North and Linda Fletcher, some cover versions, some genuine pop guests and (in the early series) a quiz to which every correct answer was greeted by Roy with “Great, score a point!” No Ollie Beak.

Go on, tell me I’m wrong.

Hang on, I’m going to tell me I’m wrong.

Ollie Beak was in GIT, as “Get It Together” was never known for obvious reasons.
