Littlest Hobo, The

SIMPERING EXISTENTIAL meadering mutt with sideline in crimestopping can’t be arsed staying in one place and hence “just keeps moving on”, prompting endless farewell scenes as the hapless mongrel pissed off somewhere else just in time for next week’s episode. Title song plays on a loop in hell.

Sometimes called The New Littlest Hobo on account of the fact that there had already been a series in the mid-60s, and before that a 1958 television movie.

Though all three productions followed the same premise, the earlier two aren’t as well remembered – probably because their theme tunes weren’t quite so memorable…

Was the dog’s real name something like London?

A few years too late, but yes the dog was really named London in both the 60s and the later versions. Knowing how quickly dogs age, one can only assume the newer London was either the child or grandchild of the original London.

Another show to feature a pre-Saturday Night Live Mike Myers.

    “Wasn’t that fucking little, either.”

Shame, really, that the “TV Cream Says” footers didn’t survive the relaunch.
