Brisbane CBD workers evacuated over powder scare

The discovery of an unknown powder mailed to a Brisbane CBD building caused the evacuation of workers on Friday morning.

Emergency crews from the police and ambulance services, along with scientific officers from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services were on the scene at 444 Queen Street after suspicious powder was found in the mail.

Workers from the 11th floor of Trustee House were evacuated from the building after emergency services were called about 9.30am.

Scientific officers from QFES took the package away to test the powder and the results were yet to be released by Friday evening.

Four workers were assessed by paramedics at the scene, with crews on standby over the possible chemical incident.

However, a Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said there were no injuries and building workers were allowed back in by 11.30am.
