Conservator and restorer Valerie Kaufmann poses with a wax-work head of Admiral Horatio Nelson in a CT scanner before it is examined in the radiology department at St Thomas' Hospital in London, England. The 18th century wax-work heads of British naval hero Horatio Nelson and twice British Prime Minister William Pitt the Elder have been scanned using the world's most advanced radiology technology in a new collaboration between Westminster Abbey, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College London. The scanner used to analyse the two hundred years old heads is the cutting-edge Siemens SOMATOM Force Dual Source CT Scanner and is usually used to evaluate heart and cancer patients. The results of the study will be released later this year. Photo: Jack Taylor/getty -
