Food and wine options have never looked so good at altitude.

Your sense of taste may be reduced by up to 30 per cent when flying, but it seems we still like a cordon bleu snack and a tipple in the clouds. So much so, Emirates has reconfigured the bar lounges on its A380 fleet. Modelled on a private yacht, its trademark horseshoe-shaped bars have been tweaked to create more space. Now up to 26 passengers can congregate for a cheeky one, with seating room for eight.

Emirates' partner airline, Qantas, also has plenty to toast, given it's the 20th anniversary of its partnership with Rockpool's Neil Perry. Among his most popular dishes are Korean style yellowfin tuna tartare and grilled salmon. Perry's hero dish remains Rockpool's steak sandwich with relish.

Over the pond, Air New Zealand has teamed up with Fine Wines of NZ to deliver the best of their vinos in business class, including Cloudy Bay and Te Whare Ra.
