A Singaporean tourist accused of attempting to murder a 20-year-old woman has been remanded in custody.
Guan Wen Brian Tan was charged with one count of attempted murder on Wednesday after allegedly attacking the woman with a hammer at a home in Brisbane's east on Monday.
Mr Tan, 31, was not required to attend a scheduled appearance in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday but was remanded in custody, with a committal hearing set for June 5.
He did not seek bail.
He was charged after undergoing a psychiatric assessment in hospital following his arrest the day before.
His alleged victim suffered stab wounds to her chest and a fractured skull during the attack at a rented Airbnb home in Norman Park on Monday night.
Police have said Mr Tan and the victim had previously been in a relationship after meeting online and that it was not the first time he had travelled to Australia to meet the woman, who is from Hong Kong.
