Overview

What We Do

UNDP partners with people at all levels of society to help build nations that can withstand crisis, and drive and sustain the kind of growth that improves the quality of life for everyone. On the ground in 170 countries and territories, we offer global perspective and local insight to help empower lives and build resilient nations.

Our Goals

This is a critical time for the world. At UNDP, we see this period as a huge opportunity to advance the global sustainable development agenda. UNDP is working to strengthen new frameworks for development, disaster risk reduction and climate change. We support countries' efforts to achieve the new Sustainable Development Goals, or Global Goals, which will guide global development priorities for the next 15 years. In all our activities, we encourage the protection of human rights and the empowerment of women, minorities and the poorest and most vulnerable.

UNDP Maldives at a Glance

UNDP has been a trusted development partner of the Maldives for almost 40 years, helping to achieve the eradication of poverty, and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion. We understand that inclusive growth, better services, environmental sustainability, good governance, and security are fundamental to development progress. Towards this end, we help to develop policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, institutional capabilities and build resilience in order to sustain development results. Our decades of experience on the ground has consistently helped the Maldives meet its development aspirations, and to bring the voices of the people to the forefront – in turn helping to empower people and build a more resilient Maldives.
