Mother's Day forecast is set to be a wet one as Indian summer draws to a close

That outdoor brunch you have planned for mum this Mother's Day may need to be moved under the patio as rain is forecast for this Sunday.

Perth's 38-day dry spell was broken last Thursday and it appears more rain is starting to find its way into the metro area.

Will the rain stay for Perth

The rain may be here this morning but it's Mother's Day that could be in for a wet one.

Meteorologist Tom Hough from Weatherzone said Perth has received just over two millimetres of rain since 9am on Tuesday.

"The rest of the day looks to be dry as the best chance of rain was during the morning," he said.

The remainder of the working week is shaping up to be dry, but the rain is set to return by the weekend.

"Saturday can expect one to five millimetres of rain, while there should be more on Sunday with five to10 millimetres," Mr Hough said.

So far this month there has been eight millimetres of rain for the metro area, the average rainfall for May is 90.5 millimetres.
