The O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission celebrated its 20th anniversary Friday, May 5 during its meeting at Café La Cave in Des Plaines.
Mayor Arlene Juracek of Mount Prospect was reelected to her third year as chairman. Niles delegate Joe Annunzio was elected vice-chairman and Dr. Ray Kuper from Union Ridge School Dist. 86 in Harwood Heights will continue as treasurer.

Elk Grove Park District commissioners are expected to cut the ribbon on a $2.2 million building project at the Community Athletic Fields this Saturday.

Outstanding Leyden High students, staff and faculty from both campuses are honored each spring through the William H. Fern awards. The awards program, now in its 29th year, held a recognition assembly April 20 on East Leyden’s campus.
At the April 18 Park Ridge Library Board meeting, board members discussed whether they would be able to expand library hours for the public.
It has been a busy week for Journal-area boys gymnastics teams with the completing of conference meets and the start of sectionals.

Bike trails in Busse Woods near Elk Grove Village were washed out Monday after heavy weekend rains.
Steady rains Monday night into Tuesday forced the closure of streets in Elk Grove Village because of high-standing water.
Niles Elementary School Dist. 71 officials are working with village officials, Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County and the village’s waste hauler on a composting and recycling program through Culver School.

The village of Rosemont announced the public can view the Annual Drinking Water Quality Report online. The report is designed to inform residents with information regarding the quality of the village’s water supply.
