Now, you can use the app with your Gmail, Outlook or AOL email address.

Read on to learn more about this update and some of the Yahoo Mail features you can start enjoying today. You’re on your way to a more organized life!

So, how does it work? From the welcome screen, tap your email provider, use your Gmail, Outlook or AOL email address to create a Yahoo account, and give Yahoo permission to sync your email messages in the Mail app. Immediately start enjoying an organized inbox experience.

The Yahoo Mail app has a number of unique features, and below are just a few that you can start taking advantage of today:

  • Relevant search results: Spend less time searching for the emails you need. Now, when you search your email using a keyword, we’ll highlight the most relevant messages.

  • Customizable swipes: Choose which action appears when you swipe left or right on a message, including delete, archive, move and more.
  • Contacts: Yahoo Mail displays comprehensive, editable contact cards, powered by Xobni, that detect all the email addresses and phone numbers associated with that person. We also pull photos from Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook, so you’ll see great images from senders more often.
  • Personalized themes and stationery: Make your inbox more personalized with custom themes and your notes more modern with stationery from Paperless Post.
  • Ditch your password:  Never stress about remembering your password again. Enable Account Key for secure, password-free sign in.
  • Multiple mailbox management: If you already have a Yahoo email account, you can easily connect and manage email accounts from Gmail, Outlook.com, Hotmail and AOL.

The new Yahoo Mail app is available in the App Store (iOS 4.15) and Google Play (Android 5.15). Check it out and let us know what you think — just go to Settings and tap “Send Feedback.”

Updated Yahoo Mail App Brings You Top Search Results

By Laura Booth, Product Manager

Yahoo Mail strives to get you to the information you need, fast. We’ve recently updated our search experience on desktop, and today, we’re bringing the same feature to iOS and Android. Now, when you search your email using a keyword, we’ll highlight the most relevant messages, in addition to those ordered by date. The time you spend searching for your most relevant emails on your phone will be drastically reduced!

Say you want to pull up information for your upcoming trip, so you search for the keyword “flight itinerary.” Historically, your search results page would sort searches by date, requiring you to scroll through many promotional emails from airlines before finding the right one. Now, you will see up to three most relevant emails at the top of your search results, making finding the info you need that much quicker and easier. And have no fear, all other relevant search results will still be available beneath “Top Results” ordered by date.

image

“Top Results” is powered by our search ranking and relevancy algorithm that was developed and refined by the Yahoo Mail Research team in Haifa, Israel. We’ve worked hard to get the algorithm and user experience just right, and we’d love to hear your feedback – just go to Settings and tap “Send Feedback.” This new feature is available today, so be sure to update your Yahoo Mail app (iOS | Android)!

Yahoo Mail Update: Never Guess Who’s Calling or Email Yourself a Photo Again

yahoo:

By Michael Albers, VP, Product Management

Get excited! Two unique features are coming to Yahoo Mail: Caller ID and photo upload.

We’ve all been there – letting a call from an unknown number go to voicemail, only to realize it was the person you were just emailing. Or sitting down at your laptop to send photos to friends and remembering they’re stuck on your phone. Now, thanks to the Yahoo Mail app, you’ll never have to guess who’s calling or email yourself a photo again.

Ready to upgrade your inbox? Update your Yahoo Mail app today and read on to learn more.

Whose phone number is this? Never ask again….

Our new Caller ID feature will show you who’s calling, even if the number isn’t saved in your phone. How? Simple. Yahoo Mail uses contact information from your emails. If you’re like most of our users, you have at least 200 phone numbers sitting in your email. Now, your contact’s name will surface with the call; and Yahoo Mail will update names in your call history or when you dial. Mystery solved.

To enable this feature on your iPhone (iOS 10 and above), simply go to Settings > Phone > Call Blocking & Identification, toggle the switch for Yahoo Mail, and voilà!

Access your mobile photos instantly on your desktop.

With the new photo upload feature, we’re bridging the gap between your phone and desktop to make photo sharing seamless. Once the feature is enabled, your recent camera roll photos will be instantly available when accessing your Yahoo Mail account on desktop. You’ll also be able to search your mobile photos easily in the sidebar thanks to Yahoo’s image recognition technology. For example: searching for “beach”, “ocean”, or “snow” will pull up relevant photos from your recent trips.

We know you’re going to love this new feature! Here’s how to enable it: Just open the Yahoo Mail app on iOS or Android, go to Settings > Photo upload, and tap the “Upload photos” toggle.

And don’t worry – these photos are only visible to you and the people you decide to send them to. Additionally, you can remove any photo directly from Yahoo Mail without affecting your camera roll. Have questions? Check out this FAQ.

Consider for a moment that our inboxes have become a place where all of our life’s details are captured and stored. With smarter contacts and better photo-sharing, we’re helping you take full advantage of your inbox!

Make sure to update your Yahoo Mail app in in the App Store (iOS 4.13) and Google Play (Android 5.13) to enjoy these features today.

By Josh Jacobson, Director, Product Management

Have you ever longed for an easier way to compose an email without having to open your Yahoo Mail app? Or wanted the ability to quickly share someone’s contact info? With the latest updates to Yahoo Mail for Android, we’re bringing you these features and more.

Available on Android Nougat 7.1 and above:

App shortcuts: Long press on the Yahoo Mail icon on your homescreen to complete several actions, including compose a new message, set a reminder for yourself and search your inbox, without opening the app. You can also easily create shortcut widgets that live on your homescreen for easy access to these actions.

Add images directly from the keyboard: In addition to the built-in attachment and GIF chooser, now you can add GIFs and stickers to emails directly from the latest Google Keyboard. Simply press the “smiley” button on the keyboard, click “GIF” and choose your favorite. Note: Android Nougat 7.1 or later is required.

Just go to the contact card, and at the top choose “Share” to share the contact as a Card attachment via any app you’d like, or “Copy to clipboard” to then paste it anywhere.  If you prefer to copy just a single email address or phone number, simply long-press that bit of information.

Bring All Your Friends to Yahoo Mail

By Sumeet S. Solanki, Senior Product Manager

If you have more than one email account, keeping all of your contacts in one place can be challenging. Starting today, Yahoo Mail on desktop can import contacts from hundreds of email providers, including Comcast, iCloud, AOL and Mail.ru. Previously, we supported importing from Facebook, Gmail and Outlook, or even your second Yahoo account. Managing your contacts has never been easier!

A richer search and compose experience

Now import your contacts to move all contact information directly to Yahoo Mail from another email account. So the next time you search for friends whom you often email from a different account, Yahoo Mail will auto-fill their contact details. Or when you type their name in the compose window, Yahoo Mail will auto-suggest their contact card.

image

To import contacts from your other email accounts, simply go to the contacts tab in Yahoo Mail, click ‘Import contacts’ and select ‘Another email address.’ Once you provide the credentials for the other account, Yahoo Mail will automatically upload your contacts’ email addresses and phone numbers copying them into your Yahoo Mail address book.

A contact card that’s faster to find

We’ll also surface their contact information in a contact card in the upper right hand of your screen when you open an email. This will make it easy to quickly see someone’s phone number or search for emails from only that sender.

Enjoy this update on desktop today, courtesy of our partnership with ShuttleCloud! And to send us feedback – just go to ‘Settings’ and click ‘Send Feedback’.
