Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk's long-serving chief of staff Angela MacDonagh has resigned.
The premier on Monday said Ms MacDonagh had signalled her intention to move on early last year and handed in her resignation in early April.
She will finish up on Friday.
Ms MacDonagh has headed Ms Palaszczuk's office for the past five years, first as opposition leader and then as premier.
Her departure comes a week after the appointment of Michael Stephenson, who was a senior staffer to former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, as Ms Palaszczuk's deputy chief of staff.
Ms Palaszczuk paid tribute to Ms MacDonagh and thanked her for her support.
"She did the hard yards leading a very small team through three years of Opposition, and it was in no small part due to her dedication, commitment, and insight that we were able to turn around from the defeat of 2012 to form government less than three years later,' she said in a statement.
"I am indebted to Angela for everything she has done and wish her all the best on whatever path she chooses to pursue next."
She said she would have more to say about Ms MacDonagh's replacement in the next few days.
