Panty sniffer the 'most disgusting thing I've seen'

A Mandurah mum says she is "disgusted" after a "psychopath" jumped her back fence, sniffed the underwear hanging from her clothesline, helped himself to a pack of cigarettes and left on Friday night.

At the time, Oksana Panich was having a quiet night at home watching a movie on TV with her 11-year-old son, oblivious to what was going on.

Mandurah community warned of backyard intruder

A man has been caught by a CCTV camera in a backyard south of Perth, 'sniffing' underwear. Video: Oksana Panich

But after she noticed her packet of cigarettes was missing the next morning, she decided to review the footage on her security camera.

What she saw turned her stomach.

"It was pretty scary because I never knew he was there," Ms Panich said.

"It's the most disgusting thing I've seen."

Ms Panich said the man's behaviour was psychopathic and she didn't feel safe at home anymore.

"I don't have a man in the house and my son is 11, so you can (imagine) how safe you can feel in the house," she said.

She said she reported the incident to police, who were investigating the incident.

Ms Panich also took to social media to spread the word about the incident and encouraged anybody who recognised the man to contact police.

"Please be aware there is a intruder sneaking around backyards," she wrote on a Mandurah Facebook page.

"He likes to sniff women's panties and steal cigarettes. If you recognise this creep please forward a name so he can be reported to police."

If you have any information about the incident call Mandurah police on 131 444 or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Alternatively, information can be reported online at crimestopperswa.com.au.
