Cool mod/powerpop by this Belfast based band. This is their lone and self released record. In my opinion the songs are a little bit too long, But nevertheless a good record!

# 449 The Sines - Wishing my life

Side a: Wishing my life
Side b: She knows
UK 1982
Great and lone release by this Teesside group. The two mod/powerpop tracks remind me of "The Chords". The band came out of the ashes from "The Slaves" , a short lived punk band with Gloria of "Blitzkrieg Bop". The Sines also had a track called Jonathan on a "Melody Maker" freebie. They shared the record with "The The". I think, if they released this single 2 or 3 years earlier, they could be as great as "The Chords" or like the other mod revival bands. With maybe an appearance at the "Top of the Pops" tv show. I'm added "Jonathan" as a bonus track to this post.
Enjoy it!

# 440 Smart Alec - Scooter boys

Side a: Scooter boys
Side b: Soho
UK 1980
This is the second single by this studio only band. See for more Information and the first single here. Like many bands who tried to jump up on the "punk bandwagon" in 1977, they tried to jump up on the "Mod revival" bandwagon in 1979/1980. But i like both records of Smart Alec.
This record came out on the same label (B&C Records) as Pete Newnham's great record "Rudi" and Horrorcomic's "Jesus Crisis".

First of two 7" they made. The band was maybe from Plymouth/South Devon and is very well known for the "Scooter boys" single. Two great self penned mod revival numbers here on this record. Maybe it was only a studio project released by Blue Chip records. I don't know. I like this record but some people hate it (or the band) , haha !!
