Nicholas Lou Saban Jr. (/seɪbən/; born October 31, 1951) is an American college football coach, and the current head football coach of the University of Alabama, a position he has held since the 2007 season. Saban previously served as head coach of the National Football League's Miami Dolphins and three other universities: Louisiana State University, Michigan State University, and the University of Toledo. His eight-year contract totaling US$32 million made him one of the highest paid football coaches, professional or collegiate, in the United States at the time. He appeared on the September 1, 2008, cover of Forbes magazine as "The Most Powerful Coach in Sports". Saban's career record as a college head coach is 191–60–1.
Saban led the LSU Tigers to the BCS National Championship in 2003 and the Alabama Crimson Tide to BCS and AP national championships in 2009, 2011, 2012, and the College Football Playoff championship in 2015. He became the first coach in college football history to win a national championship with two different Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) schools since the inception of the AP Poll in 1936. Saban and Bear Bryant are the only coaches to win an SEC championship at two different schools. In May 2013, he was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.
A national championship(s) is the top achievement for any sport or contest within a league of a particular nation or nation state. The title is usually awarded by contests, ranking systems, stature, ability, etc. This determines the best team, individual (or other entity) in a particular nation and in a particular field. Often, the use of the term cup or championship is just a choice of words.
William Christopher "Dabo" Swinney (born November 20, 1969) is an American football college coach and former player who is currently the head coach at Clemson. He assumed the head coaching job at Clemson from Tommy Bowden midway though the 2008 football season. As Clemson head coach, Swinney earns over $3 million per year.
Swinney was raised in Pelham, Alabama, and attended the University of Alabama, where he joined the Crimson Tide football program as a walk-on wide receiver in 1989. He earned a scholarship and lettered on three teams (1990–1992), including the Crimson Tide's 1992 National Championship team. During his time as an undergraduate at Alabama, Swinney was twice named an Academic All-SEC and SEC Scholar Athlete Honor Roll member. In 3 seasons at Alabama he caught 7 passes for 81 yards. He received his degree in commerce & business administration in 1993 as well as a master's degree in business administration from Alabama in 1995.

The Tide’s hopes in the game were significantly hurt following the injury to running back Bo Scarbrough, who had rumbled to two first-half touchdowns before leaving the game with an injury and not returning. Freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts did not have a strong overall performance but did manage to march down the field for a go-ahead touchdown during Alabama’s final possession of the game.
