Version notes

Version number: 2.6.0.0

What's New - We revamped video calls, making the experience more intuitive, and more attractive. As a bonus, they're more resource efficient and now let you change audio devices during a call. If that's the kind of thing you need to do. - Remove thine shackles from thine eyes, and behold: gloriously legible text, regardless of your display scaling! - We'll no longer clear notifications from the Action Center automatically, but if you're on the Windows Creators Update we'll bundle them up so that it's easier for you to do. Fixed - A rare bug that turned Slack into a process hydra: receiving notifications or switching channels would spawn new processes seemingly without end. - Should you ever wish to say goodbye to one of your teams, a right-click > Remove from the sidebar will do the trick now more reliably than before. - Switching teams using the numbered shortcuts is noticeably faster. We would say "37%" if we were forced to put a number on it. Fortunately, we aren't, and we won't. - Opening a context menu won't freeze videos or gifs playing in the app. - The default window size is a smidgen larger. You won't notice, because your window will keep being the same size it's always been. That's just the way it is, and we don't want it to change. - Our spellchecker would occasionally mark correctly spelled words as incorrect. It had ONE job. It now performs it. - With surgical precision, we cut out the frame border that appeared when the app window was maximized.

Would be a 5 but.....

Windows Store app does not have a start up menu feature. We couldn't get the website download version to work on all our Win10 stations. And that's the only version that has 'add to start up menu' option. Our office loves Slack, but they'd all like it to start up when they start their workstations. So it loses a star for that.

The best

Best messaging app without a doubt. Real-time and platform agnostic - what more can you ask for?!

Nice app, but it should be UWP-based.

I like this app for Slack quite a bit, but it's also hindered by the antiquated Win32 platform. Like what others are saying in the reviews, you guys should design this as a true UWP app so it has the responsiveness and fluidity of a Windows 10 app.

Won't run under standard accounts

Unable to get the app to run under standard users on multiple computers. "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.". We've reverted back to using the stand-alone installer from the Slack downloads page.

great job on the app so far. Has all the features I need. Probably the same electron app built into a windows app wrapper. good enough for me.

Can't open on PC startup

Otherwise great, but you have to manually open it at least once, it won't start with the machine.

Its not built with windows Store App standard

Seems same version of electron framework based version ported or more likely a WebView. Its doesn't feel windows UWP at all.

Great, but bug: calls prevent computer from locking

Slack is great. Wonderful for it to be in the Store. However, there is a bug common to both versions. If using the call feature (clicking on the Phone icon) for either voice or audio, after the call is over, Slack retains exclusive control of the system and prevents it from locking due to inactivity. You can see that this is definitely a Slack problem by running powercfg /requests to see what's preventing the machine from putting monitors to sleep. The response makes it clear that Slack is the culprit: DISPLAY:[PROCESS] \Device\HarddiskVolume2\Program Files\WindowsApps\91750D7E.Slack_2.4.2.0_x64__8she8kybcnzg4\app\Slack.exe Electron
