Divorce can be confusing for kids when they're juggled between parents. And sometimes, of course, this can be a nasty time for all involved.

But as these parents show, that's not always the case.

Actress Sienna Miller and her ex Tom Sturridge are so determined to show a united front they still read their daughter Marlowe, 4, a bedtime story together each night, two years after their separation.

"We do bedtime every day," Sienna told Allure.

"We felt as much togetherness as possible would be ideal, and fortunately we really love each other and are best friends, so that works."

She adds, however, "It's not that it's not complicated, because it is."

It makes it easier that they live only four blocks away from each other in New York, but with the wonders of technology this could be achieved even if you lived in different cities.

And it is not only celebrities making an effort to put their children first despite breaking up.

When four-year-old Maelyn when she walks out onto the soccer field she has two sets of parents cheering her on. And they are all wearing matching supporter shirts.

Maelyn's mum, Clara Cazeau, and father, Ricky Player, split up in 2013, but they are doing all they can to show their daughter she's still loved equally, despite her parents moving on to new relationships.

Her mum was so keen to display their unity she had matching shirts made to show their daughter they are all on the same team: Team Maelyn.

The shirts have their daughter's number on them – 37 – and the words Mommy, Daddy, Step Dad or Step Mom. And Maelyn loves them – mainly because the shirts have her number on the back.

Maelyn's mum Clara said that while all four parents can't always attend every game, when they do, they wear their matching shirts. The tops were such a hit she also had matching Christmas jumpers made for them all.

Maelyn's step-mum Emilee uploaded a picture of them in their matching shirts to her Facebook page with the caption, "Because of us, I will never believe co-parenting can't work. I know through experience it can work! Choose to do what's best for your child and everything will just fall into place."

The post has been shared 84,000 times.

"You can learn how to put your differences aside and do what's best for your kid," Emilee told TODAY.

"At the end of the day your kid is watching you, and we want to teach Maelyn to love other people."
