Alleged car jacker, 15, critically injured at scene of the crime

A teenage girl is in a critical condition after an alleged carjacking went wrong on the Gold Coast Thursday night.

Police alleged that about 7.30pm a woman offered two teenagers, a boy and a 15-year-old girl, a lift from Harbour Town Shopping Centre to Mullawa Crescent, Helensvale.

Carjacking girl critical

A 15-year-old girl who allegedly tried to carjack a woman on the Gold Coast is in a critical condition after she was run over. Nine News

It is understood at Mullawa Crescent the teenagers threatened the woman with a knife and made demands for her car.

The woman refused and started to drive away. In doing so, she allegedly hit the girl with her car, causing life threatening injuries.

The second teenager fled the scene on foot, police said.

The woman driving the car received a minor cut to her hand and refused medical attention.

The girl was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Police said early investigations indicated the offenders and the victim did not know each other.

The forensic crash unit is investigating.
