Dallas (/ˈdæləs/) is a major city in the state of Texas and is the largest urban center of the fourth most populous metropolitan area in the United States. The city proper ranks ninth in the U.S. and third in Texas after Houston and San Antonio. The city's prominence arose from its historical importance as a center for the oil and cotton industries, and its position along numerous railroad lines. The bulk of the city is in Dallas County, of which it is the county seat; however, sections of the city are located in Collin, Denton, Kaufman, and Rockwall counties. According to the 2010 United States Census, the city had a population of 1,197,816. The United States Census Bureau's estimate for the city's population increased to 1,281,047, as of 2014.
"House Divided" is the twenty-second episode of the fifth season of House. It aired on April 27, 2009.
House lies in his bed, unable to sleep and hallucinating about Amber. His pager goes off, and he heads to the hospital where his team is reviewing Seth Miller's case. Seth is a student who became deaf from meningitis at age four. During a high school wrestling match, Seth "hears" an explosion before collapsing (exploding head syndrome). House hallucinates about Amber in his office, where she comments about "the limp leading the blind". Amber, representing House's subconscious, tells him hints that he would not otherwise notice to help him "put things together". Amber tells House the patient's C-reactive protein was slightly elevated and that the stress of the seizure lab triggered the blindness. Amber then advises House to play music - Public Enemy's "Fight the Power" - for Seth, which helps him uncover a new symptom, neuropathy.
House tosses out his bottle of sleeping pills because he needs Amber's help. The team quizzes House about how he diagnosed the neuropathy. House claims he assumed that Seth's losing match record meant his balance was off due to diminished sensation. House wonders if the deafness was caused by NF2 cancer so he orders a brain MRI. Taub speaks to Seth's mother about the NF2 cancer and the possibility of him regaining his hearing. Seth, however, insists on remaining deaf.
A House Divided may refer to:
A House were an Irish band from the 1980s to the 1990s, recognized for the clever, "often bitter or irony laden lyrics of [frontman] Dave Couse ... bolstered by the [band's] seemingly effortless musicality". The single "Endless Art" is one of their best known charting successes. A House were managed throughout their career by John Carroll.
Formed in Dublin by former of the band Last Chance, vocalist Dave Couse, guitarist Fergal Bunbury, bassist Martin Healy (who had all been schoolfriends at Templeogue College), and drummer Dermot Wylie came together as A House. Initially developing a classic, guitar based rock sound to highlight Couse's frank but often bitter-tongued lyrics the band put in all the appropriate rites of passage for an Irish group in the mid-1980s, honing their live skills in the pubs of Dublin, performing in McGonagle's club (best known internationally as the venue where U2 cut their teeth in the late seventies), at free gigs in the Phoenix Park, and turns on RTÉ's TV GaGa and Dave Fanning's radio sessions.
Larry Martin Hagman (September 21, 1931 – November 23, 2012) was an American film and television actor, director and producer best known for playing ruthless oil baron J. R. Ewing in the 1980s prime time television soap opera Dallas, and befuddled astronaut Major Anthony "Tony" Nelson in the 1960s sitcom, I Dream of Jeannie.
Hagman had supporting roles in numerous films, including Fail-Safe, Harry and Tonto, Nixon, and Primary Colors. His television appearances also included guest roles on dozens of shows spanning from the late 1950s up until his death, and a reprisal of his signature role on the 2012 revival of Dallas. He also worked as a producer and director on television.
Hagman was the son of actress Mary Martin. He underwent a life-saving liver transplant in 1995. He died on November 23, 2012, from complications of acute myeloid leukemia.
Hagman was born on September 21, 1931, in Fort Worth, Texas. His mother, Mary Martin, became a Broadway actress and musical comedy star after his birth. His father, Benjamin Jackson Hagman, who was of Swedish descent, was an accountant and lawyer who worked as a district attorney. Hagman's parents divorced in 1936, when he was five years old. He lived with his maternal grandmother, Juanita Presley Martin, in Texas and California while his mother became a contract player with Paramount in 1938.
