It has been some time coming, but local indie-rock upstarts Wifey have finished their debut album, thanks in part to a successful crowd-funding campaign. They launch the record tonight with talented friends Restless Leg, Fruit and Sam Shinazzi in duo mode. Tickets available for $14.30.

PNAU

Friday May 5, the Metro, ticketed.com.au

The Sydney band finally perform their first live show in their home town in five years. After huge sets at Groovin the Moo, they return to the Metro, one of their favourite stomping grounds. Tickets are still available for $45.20.

HANDSOME YOUNG STRANGERS

Saturday May 6, Golden Barley Hotel, goldenbarleyhotel.com.au

It's going to be a busy weekend for Mark Lewis, who backs up his Wifey gig with a big HYS show at the Barley the following night. Carving out a niche as a raucous Aussie bush-tinged punk-folk band, there is no such thing as a bad or quiet time at one of their shows. They'd offer a money-back guarantee but this gig is free.

THE DARKNESS

Wednesday May 10, Enmore Theatre, ticketek.com.au

It has been nearly 15 years since the British glam-rockers shot to fame with their debut album, and Justin Hawkins and co are still going strong. One of the big names on the Groovin the Moo festival line-up, the band will rock one Sydney club show. Tickets are still available for $79.

RUBY MAY

The local indie-folk singer has quickly made a name for herself thanks to her affecting lyrics and gorgeous voice. Since taking a break for a jaw operation in 2015, Ruby May is back better than ever, having found new musical paths as her show embraces electro-pop elements. Tickets are $15.
