The Age’s daily editorials are the masthead’s voice in public debate. It is a strong, sometimes passionate voice. But it is not shrill.

Our editorials are how we directly participate in the most important market there is – the free market for ideas, where the currency is credibility. So they are unstintingly motivated by public interest. They are determined by eschewing ideology and political allegiance, and adhering to first principles – fairness, accountability, transparency, the rule of law, efficiency, effectiveness, freedom, and equality of opportunity.
